A new day, and I still feel knackered. So, my review, hopefully i'll post some pics up on here when I get them developed and if they actually came out
We got to Glasto at about 16.00 meaning we missed some great bands, but all I cared about was the chems really.
I had my hipflask on me, got a little merry just to be in the right zone to see the chems, cos I believe alcohol or drugs definatly highten the experiance. I had a red glow stick too, a compulsory item when you're there I think.
I got there about 30 mins early so I get close as possible without getting crushed, I placed myself in the center so I could get the best sound possible.
The anticipation was unbearable. Before they appeared on stage a sample of the vocals from Tomorrow Never Knows was looped over and over for a long time, I can't remember which line that was looped continuosly, but it containted the word; surrender. Then it all became distorted, and you knew it was time for their arrival, the crowd went mental, including me of course, I couldn't believe I was there. The smile on my face was ear to ear.
Out of the distortion came the familiar sound of the intro of Hey Boy, Hey Girl, and the infamous lyrics were heard and shown on the screen everybody went insane. When the beat hit, so did this feeling of being in the presence of greatness and everybody was jumping up and down.
They played a beautiful unrecognised track, the images in the background were the siloutte of a woman diving.
I heard We are all your children now, and what a fookin track that is! It had the demonic clown on the screens saying the words.
It couldn't have ended more perfectly, I could hear the sound of The Private Phycadelic Reel and I thought; this is just the perfect ending to the perfect set.
I don't remember every single bit, or what order they played the tracks. but once I get the pics back i'll hopefully remember more stuff. Can't wait to get the photos done, it'll surely bring back some stuff i've forgotton.
When people say when you see them live, it's a life changing experiance, it really is. My friend who's just a an average chems fan described it as "a door that had been opened to heaven". "The feeling just after sex, when everything in the world is perfect and you feel better than you've ever felt, in love".

Unfortunatly I didn't get to the chems & fatboy DJ set at 2.30 in the morning. Basically, I was fooked, I passed out in my tent from the tiredness. Took me ages to get down to the festival on the coach, saw loads of bands and danced like a bastard to the chems live set, so I just couldn't do it. Nevermind. The night ended on a high anyway8)

8) iguanapunk, that's a great experience you had! I can really connect with what you mean when you say:
I've always felt (and those feelings are reiterated especially when I watch the Fuji festival on the dvd) that the music acts as a sort of carrier wave and everyone moves along in its current, jumping up and down in unison - like a vast spread of jellyfish do in the ocean, all pulsating together. There's something very moving, primal and organic in the whole experience. I've known the same sort of feelings from being at other shows but for some reason I've felt it more while being at a Chemical show. It's almost a religious experience, and if concerts are like going to church then experiencing the Chemicals is like going to mecca...
Exactly! :) Nicely put.
