@mattman: Nice!
@chebbers: jealous. ;-) Glad you had a good time with, presumably, Mipps & Darkstar. :D :D :D

Sorry to hear that ayaz, it does seam to be a common theme with Fabric, but I think it's more the fact that everyone goes into The Chemical Brothers room, more than them overselling.
Feedback from Sankeys however was they did a good job of not over filling, so maybe it is something Fabric should look at in the future.
Kael can't wait to see those recordings!

Leaving a chemical brothers set early would burn a hole in my soul. Sorry to hear it got so overcrowded that you had to leave ayaz.
Reviews so far, sound positive. Cant wait to see those videos Kael!

Yeah Bosco, it was really busy at the Fabric gig earlier in the year, but I just danced my way through it. It usually thins out into the second hour, usually after something heavy. Couldn't leave the dance floor once the Brothers start.

well well well, that was a bit tasty wasnt it?
THE GOOD
a wicked set from the chems, including loads of new material (i think). Highlights:
New material (possibly)
The Intro - Does anyone remember the intro from the push the button tour circa 2005 - before the big led screen and the visuals were of the big globe-like ball spinning forwards and backwards? Had a kind of baleric 2 chord guitar part? The intro sounded like a full version of that. It may well not be (the sound was a bit crunchy as stated above), but it had that vibe - epic opener!
The new tune they played at coachella - the one thats a bit cylinders carousel, all whipping acid melodies etc great record, enormous builds -this time was preceeded by a very chems rising synth noise and a beatless/vocal track with lush keys and a female vox singing something like 'come closer to me' - chebbers reckons its all part of the same tune, they are in a really simillar key - i dunno, in any event they sounded awesome together!
towards the end there was 2 tunes played next to each other - one was an under the influence style roller, with more simple drums (biscuit kick -check, snappy clap -check, sizzling hi hat -check) and a bass line so rumbly and subby it made my nose tickle. it rolled along for ages then all of a sudden drops into this cheeky little downward chromatic scale drop off type thing gah its so hard to explain! was excellent, and if we were on the phone i could sing it for you, but erm im not. then following that was a really taut techy track with an acidy bassline which was REALLY fucking wiggly. great stuff
the tune right near the end - had a simillar vibe to the spiritualized remix of 'i think im in love' - 2 MASSIVE chords, a wobbly bassline and a psychedelic 'wahwahwah' behind it, very euphoric. sounded fuckin amazing!
i think there was a techno'y tune with a horse making a neighy sound it in, but that might have just been us imaging it waiting for the galloping horse techno tune hahaha. also ther was another techy track with a speak and spell type vocal going 'drugs,,, powder' (possibly) over and over again.
Other tunes:
Nate Williams - Club Patrol Club Patrol (Roy's Deathwish Mix) into that Thomas Krome tune - well vibey!!!
The hot chip booty with the erotic drum band drum loop
a return of smokebelch with the edit of the slam mix of sandals feet - the one with the acid line in it that sounds like its been punched by a slinky spring) - dense!
the sgt peppers/hey boy cut up
rude rkades acid dub
basically loads of tough bouncy techy bizness.
More good:
Meeting up with Tim Darkstar, im glad to see his appetite for adventure hasnt diminished! Tim, when you read this, im really sorry for making you get a freezing train back to brighton, making you eat a shit bacon and cheese sandwich and then falling asleep. *massive facepalm* if its any consolation spurs did lose saturday, though im sure your trip up to anfield propbably hasnt made you feel much better ;)
also meeting rich acidchildren, albeit briefly, sorry fella, tried to look for you round the booth but it was fookin mental.
THE BAD
Right, ive been as positive as i can, i loved the music it was great. but fabric itself - oh man. they might not overfill the whole venue, but when everyone is going to see the chems, isnt it obvious it might get a bit busy in the main room? why the fuck they dont do a one in/one out i do not know. it was packed beyond the point of silly in there and it actually felt a bit dangerous at times. as tim said 'ive been in tamer mosh pits'. the sad fact is, fabric is a super club now, and with that reputation comes the wankers - hoardes of pissed up sharkey blokes, just pushing their way around the dancefloor - charlie and sami (2 ladies i was with) kept getting their arses continually groped and pinched (it wasnt me doing this btw), some pissed up lass tried to swing a southpaw at me, because i had the chutzpah to carry on dancing when she was trying to shove her way through. in short, if it wasnt the chems there was no way in hell i would have stayed in that room, it totally takes the piss that we have to shell out £20 to get squeezed into a room like a bunch of fuckin battery chickens. fabric for me has gone right down hill, which is a shame as the venue and the lights were great, and to be fair the atmosphere got a bit better after 2.30am after the wankers had gone home, but that style of clubbing is not for me. just have to head up to sankeys next time i guess.
also the sound was a bit duff, which is suprising for fabric - started fairly good, but got really gainy towards the end.
THE UGLY
Tims 7.00am bacon and cheese tescos sarnie. hands down.
anyway, REALLY lookin forward to the new album now, i think its def gonna have the wiggle :D

Ahh, that's exciting as I'm reading this. Mips, is it that intro, you're speaking about: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=KisMQiaDUTk (hope, this time I'm right :lol:)
I'd be thrilled, if it was that track because that could mean a release of that piece of euphoria.
It's a pity the venue was filled to death and a shame for it''s organizers. If it's so packed that you can't even really dance, it's pointless.

Believe me when I say i didn’t want to leave but it was ridiculous, every 2 seconds someone would be pushing forward! I was quite shocked to see the chemical brothers performing at 12am, i wish it was 3am, that way all the drunkards would have been out of fabric.
Ps
i thought Bit-8 was good too

@ Zarious
The first clip looks like there inside a spaceship, but a great view. Was that Ed checking his phone at 5:16!
The second vid is interesting because I can hear " but you can't go home" throughout the vid! Like that buildup on 1:30 though.
The third needs ID or is new.
@LDE
Now that's a herd!

inchem, totally! It does look like they are in a spaceship. Insane cockpit, man, hovering over a mad flickering sea of wiggling appendages, haha!
Thanks so much for the review, mips! I remember that intro from the 2005 tour!! I fuckin love you guys, that's why I remember it. Seriously. Looooove. Glad to hear this has been resurrected. And it makes me so happy to see a reunion of sorts take place. *sniff sniff*
And that epic tune from Coachella, glad to hear that song is staying put and is firmly affixed to their sets.
Here's what I find interesting: "the tune right near the end - had a simillar vibe to the spiritualized remix of 'i think im in love' - 2 MASSIVE chords, a wobbly bassline and a psychedelic 'wahwahwah' behind it, very euphoric. sounded fuckin amazing!"
^ Oooo sounds lush. Not sure what this is but I am curious to hear it or maybe if a youtube link pops up, steer me in the right direction. Could this possibly be a new track or...?
Re: london_dust_explosion's link. Look how insane the crowd goes when that classic is played! It may be the original, but I like how it's put out there - raw, on it's own - it still unleashes the beast out on dancefloor after all this time and I think that's pretty cool.
A bacon and cheese Tesco sandwich on the other hand - not house at all.

Oops, forgot to come on the board and post.
A terrific night of music at Fabric. Unfortunately, as Mips mentioned, it was FAR too packed. Couldn't get my dance on to save my life. Still, a great time. Got to have a drink with Tom & Ed afterwards and had a bit of banter with Tom, since he's an Arsenal supporter and I was heading to the Liverpool-Arsenal game that weekend (thank God the banter was BEFORE the game lol).
A very cold train ride to Brighton followed but it seemed a good idea at the time. That Tesco sandwich was good. Actually quite good. It was that bloody chocolate shake that was a bit too much.
Had an amazing time in Liverpool, met up with a bunch of mates and tore it up. Then I had a very pleasant three days with Jeanie in Amsterdam. Truffles FTW!
A bit strange being back in Winnipeg now, since I don't live here anymore and I didn't have a vehicle all day. All in all, a great trip. I've got pics up on Facebook for those who want to check them out.
