That is such a weird feeling when that happens - sort of a tapestry of emotion that invades the senses. One of frustration, anger, sadness, then finally a feeling of content once you put it behind you and move on.
I have so many tracks I've ditched because I overworked them or got writer's block or even because they conjured up an unpleasant memory (like when working with that friend of mine went downhill). Giving your ears a break and going back a year or 2 later can be interesting, though!

Very true. I enjoy going back over lyrics and poetry I've written from a while back. I've been too busy to write much recently, but a few of the old ones still resonate quite a bit. Some I'm really impressed with. A lot I come to realize are shite, though. :D
