ha ha! We get those every once in a while at my house. And they only usually come out at night so when you see them its really freaky.

the other day, i smooshed a centipede that had somehow made it as far as my second-floor window-sill.
not only was i freaked out because centipedes normally don't make it that far, but it was a type of centipede i had, thus far, never seen before.
also, i was on drugs.

o god! my biggest fear has returned, I cannot stand them. In my old house, we saw like one a week. In my grandmas old house, the walls were covered in them. She got used to them eventually.
.
Heres a fun fact, in taiwan, centipedes can grow up to 3 feet long.

That is the first time a gnarly bug like that has been spotted in our house. Thankfully, I was out shopping when the great centipede incident occurred. I called home and stash and our son were still a bit... bugged out by the whole thing. We've had some tame little spiders here and there, but that's about it - never had any infestations of bugs because we don't live on the ground floor and exterminators come every month. Don't worry Jeanie, we'll be sure and have our cans of Raid handy for your visit!
We've never had a problem with bugs except for one time in another house we were living in, we got bombarded with ants during the summer when they were looking around for a water source, so they flooded our living room. It was really gross, there were so many it looked like the ground itself was moving.

We've had our fair share of bug incidents. One of the grossest yet amusing occurrances was when a palmetto bug (like giant cockroaches with wings) flew into the kitchen when we were living in our first apartment. That thing would not die. It was attacking us, like something out of Starship Troopers. It flew into my friend's hair, but he took it like a man and grabbed a broom and started swatting at the bug while dancing in jumpy circles in our kitchen. The bug would fly onto the counter, then lunge at its next opponent. Those things are crafty!! I don't know how many times we all had a go at stepping on it, but the battle raged on for a good 10 minutes before the thing finally kicked the bucket.
