I just heard Further in full ! So I'm gonna make a short review with my first impressions

Snow :
Huge goosebumps. That long intro is so perfect ! The bass is deeeep, I love the synth, it's got an "underwater" feel (but maybe it's just because I know the visuals)

Escape Velocity :
As good as always, 12mn of epic madness

Another World :
Wow ! That track didn't get my attention that much at the Roundhouse. But it's huge. It sounds like there's been an huge work on it, the mixing is perfect, all the sounds come together perfectly...

Dissolve :
It sounds like being on LSD (although I've never been on LSD so I can't compare). It sounds both vintage and modern, like if the Beatles had done a track with technology from the future

Horse Power :
Again, it sounds like some trip on drugs. Galloping beat, acid synths, and horse sounds :)

Swoon :
With this lenght, the track is perfect ! Good breaks, buildups and the intro is better too.

K+d+b :
It's fun to hear Tom's voice :D I couldn't wait to hear this track on the album, it was my favourite at the Roundhouse, and I'm not disapointed. It has the same "retro but modern" feel that Dissolve has.

Wonders of the Deep :
Goosebumps again. There are no words to describe how awesome this track is. It sounds a bit like Death in Vegas, but much better.

No "Don't think" unfortunately. I'll have to wait for the official release for that.
Official now : Further is abolutely fucking amazing ! The most psychedelic work they've done so far.

I could hear the lyrics better than in the live, but on a lot of tracks they're hard to understand.

Another World :
"Another World [...] Another land[...]"

Dissolve :
"Caroline, Caroline (?) [...]"

Wonders of the deep :
"Look after your brothers and sisters, they need you, they need each other [...]"

Edit :

k+d+b :
"See them high (right, ride ?), higher, and higher, and higher"

I hear ya Ben I had a copy of the singles real early, when we just heard golden path and were all waging war over it, I knew gyh would bring us all together. But it was cool to have that early and to feel like my song for the summer

Hmm. Mr. Teaser is 'round again!

I 'm missing a rating though.

And maybe you could answer this (nobody did in another thread): does Snow have an actual drum beat?
E(argasm) = m(usic) x c(hemicals)²

Some are, others are not. Swoon for example ends like the videos we saw from the DJ sets, with the pitch decaying. The transition from Dissolve to Horse Power is just like in the live. Dissolve and K+d+b both start from scratch.

EDIT : the actual lyrics of Another World :
"Another World will surround me, Another heart will forgive"

Lucky you!!! I'm sooooooooooooo jealous!
Ahhh...what the hell. We'll survive few more days.

OK, few questions from me:
1. Is "Escape Velocity" the same one as the one from youtube?
I had a feeling that it's different...at least after listening to the samples.

2. Are there many surprises in the tracks? I mean, how much the samples actually reveal?

3. Is it really true that Tom sings in "k+d+b"?!

4. So, what are your Top 3 tracks then?

Thanks!

Oh how I miss those record store days at times like this! Promos were so much fun. They really did help make up for the lousy record store wages we put up with!

Thanks for the review, Ben_j, you have officially put the Further hype into overdrive! :D
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle
