I was just wondering if anyone could tell me which records Tom & Ed have sampled to get a lot of their drum samples and loops? More specifically in their EPD, DYOH and Loops Of Fury era. There's shitloads in Get Up On It Like This, for example and I'd love to pilfer them and have a go at sampling and fiddling about with those drums myself (a good quality clean old skool drum break/loop is hard to find at times!)

I seem to remember Sneaker Beater was the go-to guy about this kinda thing when I sued to come here more regularly, is he still around?

Any wisdom would be greatly appreciated. I would look it up in the sleeve notes of the above releases but alas my copies are packed away in another country :(

Oh and I expect this has probably been covered ad finitum in other threads, so my apologies if that's the case! If you can point me in the direction of the relevant threads I'd be most grateful :)

ok, i know a few of the beats they used:

chemical beats uses 'the worm' by jimmy mcgriff

chico's groove uses 'sneakin in the back' by tom scott and the LA express

im pretty sure lost in the k-hole uses the beats from shack up by banbarra

a lot of the breaks they have sampled are cut up, effected, layered with drum machine sounds and replayed though, so its hard to pinpoint a lot of them!

i think i remember hearing the chemies say they sampled every sound in a drum kit and then put it through several filters to make it into 1 bass drum hit. Or something along those lines.

sounds very likely for some of their beats, but some of them sound like sample loops too

yeh, they def use some sampled drum loops whole, especially in their earlier work, also a lot of the fills are samples, for example in come with us and also the live break in the saturate chorus.

even if they are cut and effected a lot of them retain thew swing from the original break.

m'chebne found the break used in under the influence, but im buggered if i can remember what it was!
