Man, reaching the legal drinking age in the U.S. is such an anticlimax for most of us, considering that most teenagers start drinking at fifteen or so.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEN_J!!

Ahaha, I started drinking way before the legal age in France. But here it's as much a big deal as in the US.

happy birthday ben_j!!! if you visit the states, i'll buy you a shot of tequila. Pooter's right. When I turned 21 I pretty much stopped drinking and fuck bars, I'm not paying as much for a pint of beer as i could get it at the grocery store, just because it's in a noisy bar.

the most important thing about being 21 for me was the next time the chems do a dj set in the US, I can actually get in.

thanks again ! And I wanted to say "here it's NOT as big a deal as in the US".

I have friends who've been to the US before being 21 and the police caught them drinking. Now they're banned and can't come back to the US... In France the cops would say "oooh, bad, bad teenager ! don't you ever do that again"

Bars are really getting fucking expensive. And I too, have stopped drinking as much as I used to.

I was talking with my Grandpa, and he can remember paying 15 cents for a shot and a beer. 15 cents! 15 fucking cents! Now granted, the beer was only 8 oz and the shot was most likely some bootleg liquor. But jeeze, where have those days gone. I think the last time I got a shot and a beer it was $5, and that was on special...

The price of drinks in bars are absolutely out of hand, and the fact that my friend subsidized his rent payments for four months doing nothing but bootlegging alcohol in bars, i.e. filling up a leather pouch with booze and carrying it under his shirt and then selling it to people for $3-4 per shot.

Interestingly enough, you can tell the state of the economy by the amount of bottles of alcohol that people recycle in their homes. The worse the economy, the more people drink at home, therefore the more empties they have to recycle.
