Martyn Bennett
Martyn Bennett, the well-known and popular piper and recording artist, died on January 30 after a lengthy bout with cancer.
Bennett was one of piping's major innovators, combining the instrument with electronics, capturing new audiences for the pipe as he expanded its musical possibilities. His last recording, GRIT, was released in late 2003.
A memorial will be held for Martyn Bennett on February 4 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael and All Saints Church, Brougham Street, Edinburgh.
On behalf of the world piping and drumming community, we extend our condolences to Martyn Bennett's survivors, his many friends, and his many thousands of fans around the world.

I told a band mate that whirly told me about him, that he mixed traditional scottish songs with electronica, and today he e-mails me telling me that he read P&D(best known magazine in scottish pipe band enviroment) and he saw that he died.
I've already played Going Home in my bagpipe for him.
Rest in peace Martyn. :'(
