Check the California Is Going Well thread. Got music, got to see Josh Wink, got completely ripped with the forum kids, had rambling conversations til 9am... That's my highlight short and sweet and I'm sticking to it.

Oh - and hearing those EBW tracks and seeing all the love on the board with that thread Ed started gives me hope in the New Year...

Some not released this year but (in no order):

Albums:

The Flaming Lips - War of the Mystics

Sigur Ros - Takk

GusGus - Polydistortion

Infadels - We are not the Infadels

Tracks:

Sigur Ros - Hoppipola - Beautiful uplifting stuff.

Sigur Ros - Saeglopur - Calm....then erupts into life, stunning.

GusGus - Gun - Love the intro, very squelchy and sinister song, "Take that gun, blow your mind, take that gun, go ahead and make my day".

Gus Gus - Cold Breath '79 - Haunting, icy and subtle, sounds like it was recorded in a snow cave in deepest Iceland.

Men Without Hats - The Safety Dance - The "We're happy and we don't give a fuck what others think" song. Cheesy but just puts a smile on my face.

The Flaming Lips - It Overtakes Me - Funkiest song of the year!

Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars - Love this song, great lyrics as well.

Live performances:

Chems at Turnmills - (most of it was NYD so it does count!) Some great moments in an all-round awesome night.

Daft Punk at Summercase - Relentless, pounding house with great visuals. Is it live? Is it really them? Couldn't give a fuck tbh!

Cut Copy at Summercase - Very catchy, hooky music played by 2 (or 3?) blokes running round the stage playing various instruments.
