"ECSTASY is a dark romantic comedy, based on the controversial book, ECSTASY, by Irvine Welsh, who also wrote the book 'Trainspotting'." I read it from somewhere and also from the movie's blog that the Chemical Brothers were gonna be in the soundtrack...I wonder if it's gonna be songs from WATN?

i just remember reading last when the book was just gonna be released - bout rents being in amsterdam 20 yrs older and running a club, i never bothered to read up anything else since release now 2 yrs back? mips u've got me interested.
danny boyle was supposed to do the sequel too, but i think he declined since ewan and he don't get along now. is there a film sequel in the pipeline?
n yeah ecstacy and glue were fun reads too - tho not as impactful as trainspotting - my fav film EVER. infact i love the film way more than the book - the book was my first irvine welsh and it took me sometime to get the flow of his writing, the bloody accent!
the film - damn i can act out every dialogue every scene from start to finish - i'm such a geek i even own the double disc dvd with all the tripe on it. best film eva!

I own all of Welsh's work except his latest and love it all tremendously. Besides Trainspotting (obv!), I probably rate Glue as his best work. Meaningful and significant, with lots of pathos and humour. Fantastic stuff.
Ecstasy's been slated for filming for quite a while now but it's been delayed umpteen times. Hopefully it'll see daylight soon.

One of me and stash's greatest movie moments was when we saw Trainspotting on opening night here in stuffy conservative Orange County. It played in select theaters, mainly art ones - so we weren't expecting a crowd but it ended up being a full house with many tight lipped people in the audience who thought "oh gee, we're being so arty going to this arty film" and wouldn't you know, they had absolutely no idea what they were in for. We sat in the back of the theater which is what we normally do anyway, but this time in particular watching people leave really upped the amusement ante. Toilet scene = 5 people down... shit sheets scene = audible gasps and screams, about 8 people fled from the scene. Dead baby on ceiling, glassing scene = by that time we lost count of unhappy patrons storming out. I think by the end of the film there were maybe 20 people left in the whole place.
Oh. I read Porno. It was an excellent read.

So according to IMDB.com, the movie is gonna be released in March 2008 (in Canada)...The status is on pre-production and is gonna be shot in Toronto....There's a blog for the movie @ ecstasythefilm.blogspot.com
So yeah...that's all I could find out...I have no idea when is gonna be released in the US or anywhere else...

I read the other day that a they making another film from irvin welsh's books other than porno. Trainspotting is just a classic film, i watched it at the cinema without knowing anything about it and it blew me away. Such a good film i went to see it again with another mate, which i did'nt normally do back then.

don't get me started on trainspotting pleeeease! i've had enough for one life. all i'll say is that's the only film i find and always found to be a drug. every scene gave me a rush just like i was doin a drug, i know the film frame by frame, dialogue by dialogue, and it actually gives me a proper drug rush - every fuckin scene.
fav fav moment - rents odin' at mother superior's to a perfect day. i remember seeing some funny riots in my town long back - hehe - believe me they were funny - but i got 4 days off from work so i was so fuckin happy - i had no food in the fridge, a kg of weed on me, and was standing on the terrace of my first bachelor accomodation smokin a spliff, watchin some jokers burn a bus and stoning a beautiful new glass building while i blasted a perfect day on my new system. that's how i always remember perfect day.

Knowing Welsh, he'll prolly get permission to use only maybe half, and then if it works, which will, he'll do a "music that inspired Ecstacy - s/t vol 2" a coupla yrs down.
I'm perfectly fine if he gets all that for his film - it's a booty!
