He put on a turn-down collar, a black bow, and wore his Sunday tail-coat. As such, he looked spruce, and what his clothes would not do, his instinct for making the most of his good looks would.

That's too bad. The more brain cells the harder you rock.
Off the top of my head I can think of quite a few artists that rocked and they weren't sober. I don't think it's too bad - if it works for someone and they aren't hurting anyone and having fun I'm OK with that. If I like the finished product, I don't care how the musician did it to get there. What they do drugs and drink-wise, it doesn't matter to me. Granted drugs and drink aren't for everyone and logically, sobriety does keep the brain cells intact and if total sobriety's the route a person wants to go-then fine. It's not entirely fair to go skipping on the moral highground because really, we as fans are just observers who like the finished product so... if you found out that the Chemical Brothers were loaded when they made some of your favorite tunes, or made their tunes on a massive come down, would that affect your view of the music they (not them personally) produce? There's been some great music that's created and performed while the entertainers were sober as well as under the influence.
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle

My point was that the more sober you are the better you are, the greater the things you can produce, imagine if Jimmy hendrix would have given up crack and found bliss elsewhere.
I don't care if people were high when they produced something but I bet most great works of people who are notorius for being addicted to drugs made their best works while sober.
I love the finished product and that's a huge reflection of the artist who made it. So it goes hand in hand that I would want people to be in better mental and physical health so they could deliver excellent products.
Antype, you best be quittin, things will only get worse.
Anything that makes you weaker is not cool. The mathematical equation for this situation is C-row + power = cool.

I got the power }:-)
On a more serious note... even without chemicals (not The Chem's) and alcohol I can be a really crazy nut. Real power doesn't come from any kind of substance, real power can only come from within. Some people might need those substances to free this power while others don't need them.
