:( that was a bad concert in cologne. i thought i was listening to a cd. there was no live-feeling. 30 euros for trash.
Na i dont think the chems don't do bad concerts, i think its more the case that you dont have a clue about there live shows. Why come on here and moan? Yes there will be shows that are better rhan others but never 'trash'!

there was nothing from which you could recognize live-characteristics of a contert or show. thats why i'm disappointed.
There is such as.........
the use of keyboads/synths, the use of mpc beats, the effects they use and the actual mixing of different tracks. It varies so much from the cd. The visuals are so dif to the videos.

gott, I'm sorry the live show wasn't what you'd hoped it would be.
It does make me sad to read you were disappointed, but at least you thought the music was good. Hopefully you got something out of hearing those tunes loud!
I do think, however, that the live aspect of a Chems show is lost on some people. (gott, this isn't meant to say "you don't get it") I'm not exactly sure what some people are expecting - Tom and Ed to hire go-go dancers, jump around animatedly on stage, start using guitars, a bass, backup singers and drum...? That's just not how it goes. There is craftsmanship up there on stage, and though it is a lot more subtle than live rock and roll bands up there banging it out and jumping around onstage for 2 hours... I think it's a bit insulting to simplify a Chems show (Tom, Ed, Vegetable Vision, crew) and make it sound as though they simply walk up on stage, put a cd in, then start miming as a dvd plays on a giant screen.
As far as the visual aspect of the shows, I would think the Vegetable Visionaries labored for quite a while to get the visuals just right, so they sync up to what's happening with the music. To think the more technology you throw into the mix, the more that can go wrong (like the show that was cut short in South America because of the weather) yet it all seems to go just right with their shows. It's no small feat to get it right night after night after night.
The sound engineering... combined with Vegetable Vision's visuals and the Chems is a part of the big package, and to a degree all depend on each other to make a Chems show what it is.
Anyway, that's just my take on the whole thing.

I don't think you have listened to either the cd or the live show very well. TPPR is much heavier and interesting live (everyone here will agree hopefully) and so goes for numerous tracks. GYH is better live and don't get me started on believe. To refresh your memory check my review:

i am very disappointed about this thread. for my girlfriend, joslyn and his friend and me that was a perfect evening. the crowd was fine... and no need to say it was "bad". it might have been different from what gott might have expected but that's no reason to call it bad. again thanks to joslyn for his review, definitely worth to read and to ed for waving at me several times during their appearance.
love is all.

yes, maybe i don't know about their live-shows. in my opinion there was no "live-show". there was a computer-tech who playes the videos, some guys doing some light-effect and them on the stage doing things on some keyboards. the music was good. that's not the point. i like their music. 'm just disappointed about the "show". it was like putting a dvd into the player and rise the volume. it was too perfect. there was nothing from which you could recognize live-characteristics of a contert or show. thats why i'm disappointed.
wtf are you talking you ungrateful idiot !!!! i would give my life to see them is the best of the best in this planet, im sure you dont even know their albums. and you come here talking crap. :x

I'm wondering what you expected, that they play on real drumkits synchronous with keyboard, (E-guitar) and own vocals? :?

I'm sorry, you know, I don't mean to be a dick, but what the fuck?
Do they think Tom and Ed are gonna come on here and tell them, 'Dude, we're sorry, we know we suck, we won't do anymore live shows'?!?!
Or that all the members here are people who registered to bitch about the chems, how they've sold out, how the latest album is the worst ever, about how they USED to be good, but now they're not... I mean, what the fuck!?!?
I'm actually begining to think maybe I'm too protective of Tom and Ed on here... but after so many great songs, and so many great shows, I can't help it.

you're allowed to be protective, just don't be dogmatic ;-)
as with all albums there will be peoples saying it sucks and how they think the cb should be.. and this is the most obvious forum to say it
and i believe the chembros also would be interested in why there are people in their gigs not enjoying it...
