hey soundertow!
I really liked your song. You've created a cool bass-guitar and synth riff but there's something missing in it. The thing is what chemicalreaction already had pointed out, it doesn't seem to have a climax or a great change (can't describe it better). Something need to happen so that the listener is "forced" to keep going on with that track. I also would alter the beats a little and make them more stronger, i was expecting a driving pulsating beat to come but...
The song for itself is really felicitous. I'd like to remix it (At what speed is your track? :)) .

Nice tune, but mastering could be better in some places. The hihat needs to be louder for instance. Increase with at least 1 dB. Good vibes @ 3:00 minutes though, nice and loud. Reminds me of Underworld. Very nice builds in this. Yup, this has Underworld written all over it. Maybe you should try to find some dude to do some Karl Hyde-eque vocals on this. Push up the hihat and maybe the claps too a bit and press it to vinyl or acetate for the club dj's. It's a v cool tune.

I'm liking it, Chrisman. I actually like how the hihats are underplayed in terms of prescence, it makes it not feel like a million other songs. Would be good to dance to, I think you should do some sort of vocoder thing with some great/wierd voice sample. Then add some wierd little random things in every once in awhile to keep it fresh.
Still definitely better than anything I can do right now. :P

I came to download the hype!
Chrisman, nice work dude!
Yeah, I can totally hear this played out in a club. It's nice and dark, it's got squiggly noises, it's got good breakdowns and breathing space, and it's got plenty o' atmosphere to round it all out.
Keep it up, and get this one out to the masses somehow. It's really good!

Omg... I don't know what to say, I didn't expect so much positive feedback. :) Thanks a heck of a lot everyone, I'm damn honoured you liked my track! I'll have to check the mixing as several of you advised (that's always my main problem, I can't manage to mix correctly), and the idea of putting dark/weird vocals in it is alluring. I'll keep you posted, of course. :)
Oh and I'll probably rework the part right after the break, I feel that it should kick more powerfully, if you know what I mean. Here only the drums and the bassline show up after the long & dark break, it might be a bit disappointing... What were your thoughts when you first heard it?
Anyway thanks again for the kind words, here and on the Now Playing thread, that means a lot to me. I might hit some labels someday with this if some of you think it's worth it. :o I'll add some other tracks I'm currently working on, we'll see how it goes... And for those who are curious, I make music on Reason 3.0.
(Oh and Jeanie, there's no way I would ignore my wife. :P She'll understand.)

Chrisman Escribi:
And for those who are curious, I make music on Reason 3.0.
Well, in that case, I need to find me a copy of Reason 3.0.
I have 2 (or is it 2.5?, can't remember... ) but I've only worked on it a tiny bit since I haven't been very motivated, as it goes. Everything you'll hear eventually when the forum cd comes out was done on the first issue of Reason. It's really impressive how far a person can push even the first edition of Reason but it had its quirks - it was hard for me to tone things down cpu wise so they weren't operating in the red, and since I'm a layer-whore, things got a bit muddy and it was so frustrating! But what you've done in 3.0 sounds really clean, and I know there's been criticism of the mixing, it still sounds good considering you've only used this one program. I'm really excited to give 3.0 a whirl.

it's nice chris. a little too noisey and i thought you overdosed all the effects so it was hard to tell what was going on underneath it all but that's ok coz i used to do the same thing. you should work on the part right after the break because i wasn't totally satisfied with the reintroduction of kick and bass. there's gotta be something more there. like some fucked up effect which just grabs your balls and tear em'.you know what i mean...something to get the things going again in the track. A little too lenghty.edit it a little bit. nice variations throughout the song. overall 8/10. ;-)
