When i lived in New York , my friend Anna and me got interviewd for Oprah Magazine about "Woman and partying"
I just found the part of the article that mentions us on the web !
AT THE PARK, A LOUNGE IN DOWNTOWN MANhattan with a California-like indoor patio, Jeanie Overduin and Anna Liss, both 21, sit beneath the lacy trees singing vintage Madonna songs to each other. They consider themselves moderate drinkers, at least in their age group, and they've devised a pseudoscientific system for staying out all night without getting tanked. They're on their second cocktail (on a typical night they drink anywhere from two to six), steeling themselves for a trip to a karaoke bar. Jeanie, a model, and Anna, an intern for a fashion designer, say they go out four times a week, often barhopping until 3 or 4 A.M. Anna still gets up to go to work by 9, even if a little bleary-eyed; Jeanie doesn't drink before a gig--"Boy, oh, boy, do I look like shit after a big night," she explains, admitting that she once skipped a casting call due to a hangover. And they talk about their partying almost as if they're in training for a sport. Anna swigs a lot of water in between alcoholic beverages. "And when I'm feeling nice and tipsy, I'll stop for a while and then pick it up again later." Jeanie does the same. Often their evening begins with a drink or two at dinner, and then they go on to a nightclub or fashion event. They both cite the restorative qualities of a vodka and soda, which contains fewer calories than a lot of other cocktails--more water, too--and so they claim it's the perfect tonic for a long night. Anna says, "I think it's important to enjoy your life while you're young. When I'm older, I want to be able to say to my kids, 'Mom did that; Mom was there.'"
Ah the memories. I do mis NYC sometimes!
