Well how long would this get together be? If its only like 3 days, then I might be able to work something out.

The festival has run 1-2 days in the past, 3 days last year. I don't know how many days the fest will last this year but seeing as it's hot hot hot, then I wouldn't put it past Golden Voice to go for another 3-day bender.
A couple of things to consider about the fest:
1.) You don't want to camp. It's hot, dusty, noisy and it's the desert. Hotel/Motels are the way to go. Best idea is Bosco's for renting a house.
2.) Coachella Valley/Indio is literally out in the middle of nowhere. And it's not exactly a thrilling place to be unless you're going to the fest. Surrounding towns are a drag you don't want to spend any more time in that you have to.
3.) For those of you travelling, you will need to find a way out there - you can fly into Palm Springs which is the closest airport and cab or bus it to the fest, or for a cheaper flight you can come into LA. Best bet is to rent a car. Indio more than doubles it's population around festival time - traffic is insane.
4.) I might be able to manage some time off work for a day before the festival (which would probably a Thursday). If so,I can pick up some of your sorry asses up at the airport. :P You can fly into LAX or Orange County airport which is closer to me. We would likely rent a large van to haul everyone comfortably out to the fest as a 2-door Yaris isn't exactly condusive to comfy travel for anymore than 3 or 4 people.
5.) Logistics - me and stash and our son can only do 1 day. That's *if* the Chems are playing then we'll be bringing out son to tag along. We just can't do any longer than that with a little kid. It's hard enough to get my husband to go unless Tom and Ed are going to be there. Plus it's expensive for food, water, tix, everything for the 3 of us. So while I can drive people out to the fest if need be via huge van rental, it might be tough for those staying longer at the fest to find a way back to the airport/wherever you need to be. Bosco - do you know if there are charter buses out to the festival?
6.) Before and after the festival, mi casa et su casa. The welcome matt is out for you nutty freaks if you want to hang on for a couple more days to relax and maybe go on down to the beach. The weather should be nice. :)

Of course I'll be there.
To answer Whirly's question. I'm not sure if there are any direct charter buses to Coachella Festival. However, there is a public transit bus that goes from Palm Springs to downtown Indio (http://www.sunline.org/home/index.asp) and it only cost a $1.
Plus, there is thousands of people traveling to Coachella by car, with open seats. It should be fairly easy to organize a carpool with some people if you should need to. If you check out the Coachella Forum, they have an entire section devoted to it.

Well, I thought we could make something happen sooner, but I've come to belive that if we're seriously gonna make this work we're gonna have to plan a year in advance. That way everyone has a chance to save up money and fix their schedule to make it possible.
But in the meen time, I would say the next scheduled "big" meet up will be Coachella 2008 for now. That is "IF" the Chemical Brothers play it.

well your mom doesnt have to go to the festival. She can roam around the Palm Springs area and go shopping, tanning or whatever women do to keep themselves busy on vacation. :P

yea... the whole age thing can really cramp your style. but so be it.
@Bos... yep, pretty much hosed for anything by the end of the year. and I think it will be tough to get an international crowd together.
But then again, I am always up for a bit of overseas adventures! ( c:
