Obviously many of you have heard and I am sure that those of you in London are witnessing first hand.

Latest I heard was that Portabello Road was hit. Doesn't Ed live in the Notting Hill area round there? Kinda weird to hear about my haunts last fall being destroyed.

Yeah, Ed's a London boy, is from the Notting Hill area. What's happening in London is really sad, I love that city so much. It seems what started it all was a well intended vigil spiraled out of control and gave thugs an excuse to tear shit up. People rioting for riot's sake. Hopefully tomorrow will bring some sanity and peace and order...

Pretty scary last night, sirens and helicopters all night

This is just at the end of my road (also, someone's nicely edited it to Hanna soundtrack!)

And, what are the riots for?
Are those people anarchists, rebels without a cause, thieves, vandals...?
It's weird that in the 21-st century we have these violent mobs causing a riot in one of the biggest cities in the world.
You're never too retarded to RAVE!!!

So I had read on Saturday evening that a man from Tottenham was shot and killed by police (the story of why he was shot is being disputed). A vigil/protest was held for that man and the vigil gave way to rioting. This was on Saturday. Here's a timeline of the rioting from Al Jazeera news http://english.aljaz...9558541288.html

From what I've been gathering the riots have no unifying cause. Some people are said to be protesting welfare cuts and I've read other reports that many are rioting because it sounds like a fun thing to do.

Stay safe, Ben!!!
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle

I´ve been watching the images and some of the poor ghetto people have Blackberries and wear outfits I couldn´t afford with one full year salary.Posted Image They´re looting and burning everything for the sake of it. Local owners are defending their businesses with bats.

It´s happening now in a lot of places in Europe, due to public cuts, unemployment or simple demagogy (a week ago here in Madrid a group of anarchists almost burn a quarter defending a Senegalese guy who later was exposed as a thief and drug dealer). But UK has a big gang problem and I don´t know why since they live very well compared to the rest of the continent?

i just hope this not to become a real tragedy and take care English friends!

Take care of yourself, whoever is close to this riots.
Hearing the story, it made me think. It feels like half of the world is in rioting mood. Why is that? Here we're not talking about some middle east country but more like a heart of Europe. And i can testify that in my country people are also on the edge for various reason. Are we finally fed up with all those things that need to be changed and is this how we will start doing it? Are we rioting for riot sake?
