only bad thing about this party will be, that it is a heineken green room party. last year i saw sven väth at a green room in my hometown. this party was a huge commercial party for this dutch beer...and besides, yeah some dj's were spinning. also the beer was overpriced (0,3 litres of beer costs !!!4,20 euros!!!).
that night i swore to myself that i never will attend parties which are sponsored from t mobile, heineken or any other big players. but it's the chems, and i will be there at 6/6/09. saw them live for three times, but never been at a dj gig of the brothers...hope they will do some new stuff as well

that set was mindblowing shit. dark and hard. 3h orgasm! i think they played about 4 - 6 new tracks. they also dropped hoops and acid children. i even heard bits of DIA. and their opener was burst generator. "last track"...what a beauty! that set was so much harder than their livesets ftw!!!! now i'm on my train home with all those hard drums in my brain...over and out

so, back home...here's my review:
nice venue (old fabric), nice people, many fans around with their fanshirts...
we arrived, when the first dj played a nice warm up. after him a "special chems support dj" enter the stage, (don't know his name; he had curly hair ?!?!)...played a superb warm up for the chems (sleep derivation, bucketheads, etc). during the brothers set, the special support dj was dancing crazy all three hours on stage (and thanks for handing me out a beer mr. unknown dj!!!)
spinning his last track the chems arrived...
wow, what a intro:

in the video you can see the rain which sometimes appears. that was nice because it was so hot in front of the chems during their dj set.
hmm what to say about their playlist?!?! the first half hour was similar to the coachella set (except burst generator i think). they played some real hard and dark technotracks as well, which i don't know. they also played popof's SAN remix and a second popof track called high & down i think (but i'm not sure). also heard the salmon dance remix which also gets great response from the crowd. in general the crowd was very peaceful and very ready to party hard and the chems gave the people the right tunes to blow them in another world.
like i mentioned above they dropped acid children which was mindblowing with all the bass and strobolights (and the rain!!!), ebw6 and don't fight it/feel it.
before their dj set i was a bit sceptical cause green room = big commercial beer fest but i have to say this time the visuals weren't heinekengreen all the time so i forgot about the big beer company.
and man, these 3h hours where so hard. ok, i was standing in the first row (hi T & E it's me with the red joker t shirt *waving*)...but the beats and drums and their mixing skills together: UNBELIEVABLE. they where rocking 50% harder than in their livesets...so raw and so full of energy.
the new tracks:
"after sunglasses" is working really well live (because my whole body was vibrating to the bass)
"last track" that was the time where everybody went crazy...this track is a real monster with all that synths and this niiice melody, wow!
and i believe they dropped at least 4-6 new tracks because everytime they play one of those tracks E and especially T did this thing with his hand like moving his fingers to the rythm in a special way but i also can be wrong with this thesis ;)
at last: it was the 4th time seeing the brothers and my first (and hopefully not last) dj set of them. and it was as mindblowing as my first chembros liveset (also in vienna; this town is a good place for them ;)). i hope somebody has recorded this piece rough- and darkness.
thx for making my night T & E. can't wait for chemical7 since yesterday and come back soon to austria where you brothers have a huge fanbase.

I would've love dancing in the rain to 'BG' with a Chems logo in the sky...for 3 hrs! Very good opening. Wonder if that rain was actually Heineken coming down.
I like the fact that no two gigs are the same and that some tracks are played according to different countries and cities tastes! You got to hear that Salmon dance/Crookers remix and AC just like the last gig. But we all got a piece of SAN, so again, the Chems know what songs work for different places.
Once again, glad to see you reveling with the Bros. Thanx for the review mate!

Wow, thanks brother_ging! Great review and the youtube clip is wicked! I love that they started with Burst Generator. What a treat! As someone mentioned in a review for one of the We Are The Night gigs, Burst Generator seems to act like a catalyst and I can definitely feel that here just watching that Vienna clip. Can't think of a better song to open a dj set and get everyone's blood pumping.
(Sorry if I went off on a tangent there... To me, Burst Generator sits at The Reel's right hand side. ;) )
So. The crowd look lovely and fully into it. And I can imagine how freaked out and exuberant everyone was during that lush and gorgeous Last Track! Overall it seems their sets are taking on a rather dark, mad and nearly sinister feel just going by what I've seen myself, what I've read here and what youtube clips I've watched that are floating around. Even though the bulk of the Chems sets are comprised of other artists' material, I wonder if that feeling in their current dj sets is a clue to what emotional direction the new album is headed in? Hmmm.
