I'd imagine you were trying to slow down the tempo and it caused a shift in the pitch?
no actually; i used fl studio and used pitch shifter and time shifter separately to get the tempi and pitches to match. Problem is that the songs are in A flat and D respectively - 6 semitones apart (the furthest possible)! Ir has to be in D, otherwise S2A sounds awful, so Snow had to come down 6 semitones - quite a change :/ Of course, the ChemBros do it by changing the inversion of the chords that she sings to accomodat for this, but i only had the original studio album tracks so this wasnt possible: In the original, she sings C, A flat, E flat, so this transposes down to F sharp, D, A, which is quite low. However, the chemical brothers rerecorded this at pitch D, A, F sharp so sounds much better.

Forum member Csar did a version of Snow/Surface using the live-version of Snow/Surface and filter out the vocals of Stefanie there. Still not Chemical-quality, but also not a bad listen. CLICK
Maybe you should try the same - but i can't say which video he chooses for the vocals, maybe the Luxembourg-recording.

I assume they had some vocal takes spare which they used in their live version. For instance, there's this ascending vocal part to kick off the beat and that one wasn't used in Snow. So I reckon, they used unique vocals that were not directly edited from Snow.
