Just heard "The Golden Path" for the first time. Yeah, I know, it's been out a while, why haven't I listened earlier? Not the point. My point is, what the hell? I thought, when I first found out the chems were working with the flaming lips, that surely the song would be, well, not the best. However, I thought the chems genius would shine through the flaming lips shoddiness. Sadely, in my opinion, it seems like I was wrong. The song has almost no chemical influence at all, it's nearly all flaming lips, making it all crap. Anyone asking me my least favourite chems song now gets a different answer than before.

I'd say give it a while, let it come out on cd, some of the chems' work takes longer to get used to depending on the other types of music you listen to and what you hope the chems will put out. My fav album was Surrender which this song is closest to in style (really get that Let Forever Be feel from it), while Get your self high sounds like the DYOH and CWU b-sides (Base 6 and Not another Drug store). This is probably not a new direction for the chems, just a little side project make it something worth while for us people who would have no need to get a singles album

I think "The golden path'' sounds great after a couple of listens to it. It absolutly must grow. The Chems seem to do that more often thay you think "what the hell'' and later it sounds great. I had it with more of their songs, even the complete "surrender'' album. It must grow. I didn't have a chance to listen to ''Get yourself high''. Anyone know a good site to hear it?

I think some needs to start a Flaming Lips disappreaciation thread, rather than taking up space on this board. It's rather pissing me off and why my absence in here is becoming more and more prominent, which is a shame because I like the Chems and I like coming here.

So... why the fuck must a new thread be made about the Golden Path whenever someone hears it? Just post in one thread already, this place is mucked up enough as it is.

bah. I shouldn't have bitched quite like that. It's not my eloquent self. I still stand behind the gist of it though.
I have yet to hear the track in full - I am excited to hear it, can't wait to get my mitts on my own copy.
I don't mind if people don't like Flaming Lips, and the criticisms are fair play - more for me anyway. :D

Just one thread is fine.Don't think it could've been said better by anyone, also you guys might want to check out http://www.thechemic...lden/golden.htm to hear nude night and the remixes... I was bloody wrong, nude night has nothing to do with the golden path, either way enjoy!
I think the track is SUPERB and anyone who thinks Flaming Lips suck can kiss their own asses with their flaming lips

I did that and it ended up being 2 cds. Also, this is a little idea that ended up working well (speaking of goin 2 cds): Since the Singles was fit for one disc I decided to make a new version over 2 discs with all the songs not put in plus the single versions of all the tracks. It sounds good when you put stuff like life is sweet in and music response and we cannot forget IBIA! I'm sure if the price wasn't different the chems would've done this album on 2 disc.
