He put on a turn-down collar, a black bow, and wore his Sunday tail-coat. As such, he looked spruce, and what his clothes would not do, his instinct for making the most of his good looks would.

what?

I'm not sure what was wrong with my post, but allow me to rephrase. I had two points:

1. LotR movies mean nothing special to me.

2. I'm not too happy to see other books filmatized, when The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy seems to be stuck in Hollywood executives' arses. At least it's now slated for 2005 (which I doubt will happen). Douglas Adams spent much time trying to get somebody to actually do something about the movie, but with minimal results. No wonder that he wrote (or said, I don't quite remember) "The Hollywood process is like trying to grill a steak by having a succession of people coming into the room and breathing on it."

Now that I've seen Return of the King, I can look at all 3 installments as one giant epic movie. Many parts are my favorites.

But like you my favorite parts of ROTK was that first shot of the awesome castle of Gondor... just gorgeous. And the massive battle scene, my goodness - it was incredible from start to finish! The rupturing damage done by those catapaults was incredible, the whole theater shook and people gasped. And people screamed when the spider stuck Frodo - that spider was the nastiest bug I've seen in a movie and it was done so well it looked like it would crawl right off the screen. People clapped, cheered, the energy was great!

Such a fantastic film!!

I've heard about Peter Jackson making the Hobbit - I think if anyone ought to do it, it should be him. He did Lord of the Rings the ultimate cinematic justice (and then some) so I trust him and his entire wingnut crew without question.

Has anyone seen any of his other films? A few years ago when I first heard he was doing Lord of the Rings, it was hard to picture him as director since his previous films were... whacked out. Meet the Feebles anyone?
