They started selling Grand Wormwood Absinthe in the US again, just a month or two ago.

I drank a bottle my last night in london. We didn't want to try to smuggle that in to the US, along with with the 3 mushroom grow kits we had packed, so I polished it off. Started at like 2am, and was wandering the dark streets of london at 5am, (looking for a spring onion and mature chedder sarnie from tesco express at).

It doesn't have the insane thujone content that the pikey versions in europe have, but it *does* contain that pointlessly forbidden compound. After half a glass (1 part absinthe to 5 parts ice wather) I can say with authority that it has ENOUGH thujone to be completely authentic to the stuff over there.

I'm drinking it in a modified 'From Hell'/french style, sugar, cold water, 1 part absinthe to 5 parts ice water. Czech style involves soaking a sugar cube with it, lighthing the cube til it carmalizes and drips in, then pouring the water over it.

The 'From Hell' version involves dripping laudinum into it, but since I'm out of laudinum (the world has been out of laudinum, actually, for the last 100 years or so) I'm using xanax instead.
