hey guys,

I was just wondering if any of you are fans of the Australian band Infusion? I only discovered them about a year ago, but they have become one of my top 10 bands. Just interested in what your thoughts of the group are.

They are pretty decent live. Infusion are a 3 man band, however for their live gigs they have an additional 2 musicians. A drummer and a multi instrument player :P What is cool about their live sets though is that midway through it, the 3 man dudes do a solo for about 15 minutes just going crazy on synths.

Anyway what made me wonder/talk about all of this is i noticed they have a new album coming out soon.

Three songs from the new album have been posted on their myspace.

http://www.myspace.com/infusion

The first song is a bit of a letdown...a bit too poppy for me. However "So Soon" is such a classic infusion sounding song and i like what they do midway through the song. And ofcourse, they include Dogtown, the funky synthy song. At the moment i have good expectations for the new album, all i have to do is sit back and wait.

What are your thoughts?

I like some of Infusion's work and remixes, but I can't say I am a fan of either of their previous albums. It's a shame becasue I really, really dig their Essential Mix from '04 where they only use their own music (and one of their remixes).

I'll check out the new album when it gets a full release.

Regarding their live set, the 15 minute jam sounds pretty cool.

Yea some of their stuff isnt the best. However i think some of their best songs are pretty unknown. Songs such as "Always There", "Meant to Be", "Love and Imagination" and "Daylight Hours" are great, but not too many people have heard them.

I guess when people think infusion, girls can be cruel and better world just spring to mind :P

Jittem - Do you need Infusion's remixes of The Cure - The Walk or Bjork - Pagan Poetry?

Also, have you ever heard the 'Aquaman' version of Legacy from Junkie XL's Radio JXL : A Broadcast...CD?

I'm really digging these guys at the moment.

So Soon & Dogtown are fucking great! Dogtown especially--nice and dirty. Mmmmmm... yeah.

Thanks for the recommendation!

I still agree that Girls Can Be Cruel.

I am really interested to hear their next album. Saw them play the opening Sahara set at Coachella 06. Was a good proper live set to start the festival. Not many people were there but it did make me move. Keep us posted people.

I havn't seen an official release date yet...all i've seen them say is that they have been recording in the studio.

infusion did similar at BDO...early in the day with not many people, but the people that were there were going off

Jittem - Here ya go.

Bjork - Pagan Poetry (Infusion Mix).mp3

http://rapidshare.co...n_Mix_.mp3.html

The Cure - The Walk (Infustion Mix ).mp3

http://rapidshare.co..._Mix__.mp3.html

Junkie XL - Aqua Man ft. Infusion.mp3

http://rapidshare.co...fusion.mp3.html

I first heard this Bjork remix AND the Junkie XL remix of Legacy on Paul Oakenfold's Great Wall CD. I know Oakenfold is not a huge name on this board, but I really liked his sets and mixes between 1997 and 2004. Despite his choices of Justin Timberlake and Madonna, Great Wall was one of his best studio releases.

I found this mix of The Cure on a CD called Future Retro. I highly recommend its purchase. There are also some standout remixes of 80's tracks by Adam Freeland, Tiga and Elite Force.

I stumbled on 'Aqua Man' by accident when searching for the Junkie XL remix of Leagcy. This is found on the European version of Radio JXL: A Broadcast From The Computer Hell Cabin. It's tasty.

One more thing. If you like Infusion's tracks and remixes, definitely check out their Radio 1 Essential Mix from 2004. You won't be sorry. It's a little large, so you'll have to jump on them interwebs and find your own.

Enjoy.

i remember hearing about future retro a couple of years ago when the crystal method came to australia, i think they had a track on it or something.

Downloading the songs nows =D

as for the Essential Mix...i got it last year sometime and really rated some of the tracks...i think i might chop it up into separate track though.

anyway thanks again dude

No problem.

The only track on the Essential Mix that grates me is the very first one. I like the rest and think they go well together.

Keep us posted on the new album.

I am pretty interested in this...was a huge fan back in 2004 and 2005 and then it kinda faded...as I moved away from the progressive/breaks style and more into techno. ...but as I have been told, their roots are techno and this is what the new stuff should be like.

saw them twice...once in Atlanta and once in Miami...the show in Miami was amazing..one of the best concerts I have ever been to.

I heard a recording of their live set for the "Smirnoff Experience" back in August or so of last year, and I was disappointed that they were sounding more rock and less electronic.

What was your experience like seeing them a few years back?

Granted, I was very drunk/stoned last night before I went to bed, but last night I had one of those rare instances where I don't know whether I dreamed the moment or whether the moment actually happened. I was looking at my e-mail and I received a notice about the new Infusion album and that you could order it online. Also, if you did you got a signed copy, and the e-mail had a note from the band saying, "We won't write anything rude, unless you want us to."

I checked my e-mail today, along with my trashed e-mail, and the e-mail is nowhere to be found. Fucking surreal, man.

maybe its a premonition madpooter :P

unfortunately i didn't get too see them a few years back. However when i saw them recently it seemed like they evenly balanced real instruments with synths.

I gotta be honest though, 2 player game is pretty bad. Seems like they just wanna get a few extra plays on JJJ and 104.7

sigh

Okay, I wasn't dreaming.

I had just read it elsewhere, not in my e-mail inbox.
