Who's your country peeps? I know who I'm rooting for... Independent Olympic Athletes!!!
Shout out to Luol Deng of the British Basketball team for being featured with Lebron James in the McDonald's commercial. Not necessarily the biggest star in the NBA, but as a huge Chicago Bull's fan, it's fantastic to seem him get camera time like that.
Should be a fun 3 weeks. Good luck to your native countries!

As for all the other events. I'm kind of going thru all the of them. Checking to see which countries will give us a run for our money and sorts! Men's swimming for Sat, as well as a peep from Califronia in the Boxing semifinals.

If you should choose to torture yourself by watching Women's Basketball, keep a look out for the name Candace Parker on team USA. I wen't to school with her from grade school to highschool and knew her quite well during that time. I'll reserve my comments about her, as I don't have a lot of positive to say. This will be her second Olympics as she already won Gold in Beijing.

bit disappointing to see queen picking her fingers when team gb walked in but she is nearly 300 now and i forgive her for being a bit bored.
but some really good decisions on the ceremony and the flame was top class.

Please don't call the police. I mean you don't need to, cause they already know...

The other part of me was amazed while watching that the 39 year old Bulgarian made it to the Rings final today. Sad to think that the girls above that thebloke creepily put up won't have more than a few years left in their 'career' while the men can go into their thirties.
@Bosco, the Independents had the best entrance at the opening last night. Three of them living it up, breaking down country barriers, and not having to look formal for their respective IOCs.

i am from argentina, so i hope (but is has ususally been like this) our teams and athletes bring some golds!!!
i have to say it, and no offense meant: las malvinas son argentinas, antes de los británicos había argentinos y chilenos habitando las islas, claramente ubicadas en la plataforma marina de nuestro país.
but anyway, this is related to sports and we argentines know how to behave, always.
thank you chemical brothers for being my friends!!!
cheers to all of you bloggers and thanks!!!

This.
But does anyone know what version it was? Was it a special olympic version? Or some old remix?

There are at least five reasons to watch the german team...

They definitely messed with it. Underworld were in charge of music for parade. It seemed to be faithful to original but there was defintely some strings in it that i hadnt heard before
Hearing the Aphex Twin in the actual ceremony was great as well. It was one of the more contemplative moments (think it was the first world war bit)
Just found out soundtrack called isles of wonder is being released as well. doesnt include everything that was used as the aphex isnt there and a few of the parade tunes a missing obviously. Didnt realise that there was that much underworld or that it had been remixed. High contrast involved a lot.

I scrolled through the olympics soundtrack on ischnoons and it was labeled as a High Contrast remix. There are tons of these remixes of his.

Was a bit heartbreaking to see the womens US gymnastics team blunder yesterday. Some audible "oooooohs" and "aw man!" in response to that could be heard around the cabin too.

Jordyn Wieber was balling when she got cut from the all-around! When the olympic reporter was interviewing the other gymnasts, you could see her crying in the the background. She'll be back for team finals (tue 8:20am us time!)
I'm focused for the next morning ( which is now) for the soccer match between north korea and b-ball against Tunisia!
It's getting easier to rise in the mornings so far!
