Another World Single

Plus Another World has a similar "feeling" that Swoon. It's not the best way to promote the album...
Anyway, the single is available now so let's speak about that.
The "radio edit" of Another World isn't useful, I don't think I have to say a lot about it...so I'll just speak about the remixes.
Swoon (Boys Noize "summer mix")
Fortunately not too "Boys Noize-like" (no awful saturated sound). It's the least we can expect from both a Swoon remix and Boys Noize. Good but not really amazing. Actually I think it's too close to the original version, he didn't add very much to it. At least he didn't waste the track and made it a little more "club friendly".
Swoon (Lindstrøm & Prins Thomas remix)
A good remix. Different from the original version but we recognize it anyway. It's very original but maybe a little too long. It's worth the listen.
Horse Power (Popof remix)
Apart from the "Horse Power" vocal sample, it sounds nothing like the original version. It's a Popof track with a sample from Horse Power. I think it's a bit too cliché, with that "build up then release" thing we can find in most of Popof's tracks. The beats are well-produced but the track, in itself, lacks a bit of originality to me. This is probably the reason why I've never been a fan of Popof's music in general : it's basic progressive techno without much originality. It's not bad but it's not really awesome.
Ed said that this remix was a banger but for me it's nothing compared to the original !

also, i dont really think of Further as a 'singles' album, so i dont think any choices would have worked 100%(except swoon)
the popf remix is more like a cover, he obviously made it completely himself, but its clearly inspired by HP,
I like it a lot, good dirty synth sounds
the swoon remix are ok, but neither is more interesting than swoon
thats my 2c

also my opinion! if they would release none of the 8 tracks as a single, it would be cool for me. further = one music trip.
to castrate AW to a under 3:00 long track isn't really working for me. i prefer the album version.
remixes:
the club friendly boys noize rmx works well on the floor (tested it several times =)) and for me. i think i've heard boys noize rmx more often than the original. GOOD WORK, ALEX!
for lindstrom/prins: wow, what a feeling! kinda love this rmx. very chilled and relaxing. takes swoon back to the chemical roots.
popof: first i thought, mhhh, a very well done remix. but after a few listens, i think it's a very average popof track. it's almost 100% popof. i have to say, that i know all of popof's tracks i think. they are all very club orientated but most of them are following the same scheme (like horse power). it does not surprise me. same synths, same build up...meh. prefer the original on the dancefloor. f.e.: popofs work on vitalic's flashmob is what i call a banging remix by popof.
i hope if there will be a third single they will not cut it to nearly beyond recognition...

I'm purchasing the EP as I type and will give these some solid listens before I give my thoughts.

I'm not a fan of this remix, he just took some parts of the original, added some beats and made build-ups.
It's the main problem with POpof's music : he makes good beats (really) but he always uses the same recipe (build-ups again and again...). It's not very original.
I think I prefer the original version of Flashmob...wait, no I prefer the new live version that Vitalic made !
at 1:56 It's awesome !

Thanks to Pooter's constant (but annoying ) mentioning of Vitalic in this forum, I stumbled upon some 12's of his earlier work. When I found it, I thought to myself 'Pooter listens to this stuff', so I took it as buying advice and brought home Fanfares and Poney EP. Good buys!
But when I heard the track 'Flashmob', I thought I found the 'meaning of life' and the 'holy grail' all in one!

I agree the originals are almost always far superior to the remixes, but I find value in many of them and think there are a handful of gems. That being said, there haven't been too many good ones since the first singles collection, although I think DFA and Soulwax did nice jobs.
