Yeah, but by "visitor" I meant permanent houseguest.... :D I'd love to come down but I want to see if London for New Years is even a remote possibility first. I doubt it though, so I'll be exploring my options for August..... And, of course, I appreciate the hospitality!

Yeah, computers suck. I just got a copy of Reason 3.0, but it won't run on Windows ME or with as little RAM as I have. So, new computer next week, I think!

Here legal drinking age is 18. But if you can't find hooch by your 16th b-day you might as well pack it in...... Still, I'm legal in the USA now, woohoo!

Bah!!

Since February I've dropped a lot of weight. Enough weight to have a massive impact on my wardrobe which I am currently swimming in.

It's time for new clothes - this should be the fun part about losing weight. I really, really, really want a pair of jeans because believe it or not, I've never worn them because I'm all girlie with skirts and dresses and stuff like that. So I try on a whole store full of jeans after work tonight. The cute kinds that have the nice shaped boot cut and *should* rest on the hips.

Why the fuck do clothing makers think that every girl who wears jeans wants a low rise pair of pants that shows off her uterus as well as ass crack? And why do they also assume that just because a woman has hips, then her waist must be as thick around as a sequoia tree? And why do they assume that only tall girls are priveledged enough to don a pair of cute jeans?

Must be a girl thing. Sorry about the estrogen filled post.

I understand your frustration , Whirly...! I have a lovely jeans , but it's SO low that i have to wear a boxershort underneath! ow , and my sleeves are always to short. I lik sleeves that kind off cover your hand , but mine are always at my wrist and i hate that! But i have really long arms tough.

:D HAHA "a low rise pair of pants that shows off her uterus"

Sorry Whirly to make fun of your cloth buying problems but this is so funny.

P.S. I hate buying clothes period. Why should I buy a new jeans or T-shirt when I really want is the new Kraftwerk cd of Roisin Murphy.

Bwahaha! Bosco!!! Good call!

Jeanie, if I could borrow some of your height... Just an inch or 2! I work with a girl who is a little over 6 feet tall who has the same problem as you when it comes to long sleeves and pants. She's got an odd shape, incredibly broad shoulders, a long slim torso, and extrememly narrow hips. It's so hard for her to find anything that fits her right!

And speaking of clothes, and the things I hate about them.

In particular, the Juicy clothing line and the immitators. OK, not for me but if people want to wear this stuff then that's fine if they feel comfortable and good in it - more power to them.

But imo what's bad is when little girls that wear this stuff. I'm not talking teens or preteens even. I'm talking little girls who are grade school age. Yesterday I saw a mom and her little girl who couldn't have been more than 8 or 9 years old. The girl was wearing a baby doll shirt, little black boots with a small heel, and an itty bitty mini skirt with the word CUTE in big white block letters spelled across the butt.

I mean, why? Children are cute in their innocence and don't need the word CUTE splashed across their rear ends. It just doesn't seem right at all, it seems perverse.

I'm glad I have a son -just put him in jeans and a t-shirt and he's ready to go! ;)

It's so much more affordable for a girl to look classy though. God help me if I can find a nice shirt cheaper than what I spent on food my whole trip to Coachella and a pair of jeans cheaper than my bus ticket.

I agree that women can get away with spending less and looking good, because they have more shopping options, and the turnover for trends move a lot faster which brings in more bargains on the clearance racks more often.

That's not to say that a lot of womens clothes don't cost craploads of money - they do depending on where you shop. And half the time you're paying for a label more than anything else. $62 on a DKNY t-shirt, no thanks.

But one thing - men's clothes seem to last longer than women's clothes. I'm always having to sew buttons back on and stitch up where the seams come undone on my clothes.

Don't get me started on shoes!!!

You're right: It's totally about the label. Thankfully I live in the cultural wasteland that I do, where I can wear a $35 shirt and $40 jeans and be "well-dressed" for a guy my age. Even in Calgary that shit wouldn't fly. It doesn't hurt that half my friends might as well be hobos for how they dress.

I was out shopping with my girl last week and we were going through some of the trendier boutiques/stores and I calculated that for me to get a week's worth of even mid-level clothing (4 t-shirts, 3 button-up shirts, 3 pairs of jeans, one pair of shoes) would cost around $1000. I was depressed; she bought a cute pair of leather "cat" shoes.

Now I need new shoes because I ruined my normal shoes while trespassing through muddy riverbank properties while drunk. :( :D They've been relegated to work shoes now.

"Mobile drunkenness" has ruined more items of clothing for me than if I had rolled around on a bed of flaming nails. I always wake up the next day wondering how on earth I got covered up to my knees in mud, with my sweater drenched in beer and reeking of weed. X-D
