Nod To The Chems / Favorite Top 5 Remixes

Check out #5
This is also a pretty cool top five remixes in general, and prompts the question: What are YOUR top 5 favorite remixes?
I'll have to do mine in no particular order, and a bit on why I love them:
1. I Think I'm in Love - Spritualized (The Chemical Brothers Remix)
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=lZ8bfsL-awY
--The brothers blew me away with this one. The first time I heard it on the end of their Brothas Gonna Work It Out mix album, I instantly fell in love with it. It encapsulates the end of my college years and brings me back to warm, sunny, Santa Cruz beaches with an ethereal peak that makes me smile. Quite the amazing beat put behind this dreamy track, and with such a huge boom.
2. Renegade Master - WildChild (Fatboy Slim Remix)
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=Csh33-yTh0M
--This is one of those remixes that caused the original mixes to all but disappear. Fatboy Slim, despite his decline over the past decade, has managed to produce some amazing remixes over the years that have made me smile a thousand times over. My love of this track is evidence that most of my youth was spent during the 90s, the energy in this coming from the early rave energy with its amazing peaks and plastered permagrin. I first heard this spun in Barcelona at a DJ set from the Filthy Dukes at a music festival. I loved the track before, but it was cemented in my head around that moment forever. Golden.
3. Just Let Go - Fischerspooner (The Thin White Duke Remix)
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=W2n8R9xUqsU
--At first I was like, David Bowie is remixing modern electronic music? No, this is Stuart Price. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuart_Price) I have enjoyed each of his remixes, but this one stands out the most for me. I first heard it on Soulwax's Essential mix back in 2005, and when I heard it on the mix, instantly I was like, WHAT IS THIS TRACK OMGZ0RZ! (excuse the teenage girl--I'm caffeinated as I write this) Amazing, amazing peak with a completely deep electro-house feel. You can almost feel the synth between your teeth and chew on it.
4. Magick - The Klaxons (Simian Mobile Disco Remix)
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=IzeCtdJaMFM
--Admittedly, I have a bias when it comes to my love of this track. It was fueled and inspired in a chemically-induced moment, but what can you say about the inner-workings of our brain and why we believe the things we do. I was rolling so hard that I was having a near out-of-body experience seeing Simian Mobile Disco perform for the first time in 2008. I was, as they say, in ecstasy, at home in the pulsing beats of their set. And then nearing the end, I hear this scream, almost like an angel's fury piercing the air. I actually became, for a moment, frightened. But as the track ripped into this amazing crescendo, it just made me dance all the harder. Simian Mobile Disco did an amazing job of weaving together elements and adding effects that made it sound like a synthesizer was getting ripped in half, and creating an amazing, purposeful peak at the same time.
5. Reckoner - Radiohead (The Twelves)
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=G8eFUE0IJew
--This doesn't actually exist, per se, as a remix, official or unofficial. But it deserves a mention because what The Twelves do best is remixing in general, and their style seems to unequivocally show in each of their remixes. The Twelves are awesome at performing and remixing tracks on the fly, live, in their sets, and they sound amazing. Their style is a combination between the funk of the 70s, the sped up house of the early 90s, a little of the cheese of the 80s, and the energy of Brazil. Their knowledge of chord progressions and music theory comes out in their performances as they end up playing synths and weaving tracks together that create some unbelievable DJ moments that end up being authentic in their own right. If you get the chance to see them and love to dance, don't hesitate.

edit: after rereading your post I also miss Stuart Price in the NME list. I absolutely love his remix of Britney Spears 'Breathe on me'

Anyway they've certainly made their love of that Metronomy remix evident!
I'm not quite sure what I'd put in my top 5... I love a lot of remixes for different reasons.

You're welcome -- it's actually remixed by the same guy behind Le Castle Vania, who I love enough to have included 2 of his other remixes on my list. The Messiah is just mental, while the Walter Meego track is kinda beautiful, lyrically, while still banging.
@MX: Nice list! Especially digging the bold tracks.

amazing work, guys! it must have been a lot of work, incredible... I´m an avid remix collector and this isn´t good for my addiction...
Probass, the Sneaker Pimps ones is Spin Spin Sugar -Speed Garage Mix? is there another version called Dark Mix or is the same?
a lot of my favourites are already there, so i won´t be redundant. The autoremix Justice one (Stress) is HUGE (Bernard Hermann + Daft Punk), the Noisia ones too, Rex the Dog, Trentemoller...Excellent taste!
i´ll add a couple that make me very happy

What about them making Fever Ray sound like one of that eurodisco bands that my parents danced to in the 70s at Mallorca
they´re amazing but they don´t make their own music, am i wrong?
i´ve never seen the Magick one as nothing special...i owned it and i deleted it.

They've made an album, but it isn't mind blowing or anything. It's a little too low-key for my tastes, but it's not bad. Their best work lies in their reworking of others' music.

I don't think it's the same -- the Dark Garage mix is by Armand van Halen, and it really isn't speedy... it just has trippy noises and excellent bass
So, "Auto" from Stress (Auto remix) is Daft Punk and a fellow named Bernard Herman? Very interesting! Why did they go with that name? And who is Bernard Herman?
