The reason I opened this topic originally was to post a review of my Berlin gig in june to share my experience with you all. I started my review but never finish it somehow (uni keeps me busy these days). Shame on me because it was a killer night. I never ever had such a top scenery like Berlins Cidadelle (what do you think Irish?).
It was awesome. A little fortress aflamed in different lights formed a kick-ass atmosphere. And the best: the chems were to play this venue! Since it was a postponed show it couldn't had been a better place.
Before the chems got on stage a Dj was playing. And surprisingly he made me dance instantly (none of the fomer ones did that to me). He dropped some ace tunes you couldn't resist moving. Well, but the best thing happend when one of the roadies came on stage to check out the equipment. I didn't noticed it in the first place but then some noises were occurring which were really really familiar to me. Yeah! I got a grin on my face because guess what? This guy pushed some triggers and hit some keys the chem were going to use later on in their set. Ha, that was great. I hastily took my camera to record some bits. Unfortunately that damn thing let me record only one minute. Anyways, that's what I was able to capture: http://www.megauploa.../de/?d=SXZR91QK
Some time passed and music became louder indicating gently the chems weren't far away.
Then Tom'n Ed came on stage and kicked off with a godlike acidly Galvanize.
It was fantastic. The audience was a little lame (maybe due to the European championchip) at least in the back so I moved to the front to dance my ass off. And I did!
In times of youtube (which is haven and hell at the same time) where you can watch all their live sets I thought the setlist wouldn't surprise me until the sheer impossible happend. Hey Boy Hey Girl faded out and I was like "yeah, now All Rights Reversed, let's get it on". But no. What was this? Never heard it before! And what were those new visuals? Hmm, something special was about to happend. Bam, scales fell from my eyes and Irishs statement about EBW 10 and a balearic feeling popped in my mind. Gorgeous! When the guitar riff came in I was blown away and had to show the rest of the world by yelling some stupid "yeahs" and "uuuhs". Sorry, couldn't keep my composure
Yes, it was a mature moment. Well, the set went on and I was still dancing.
But I noticed that something was different from previous gigs I attended. Something significant. F*&(k yes, why was I able to still hear myself?? Did someone forget to turn on the volume? I never was at a chems gig whithout having my ears suffering from heavy volume abuse and a cheeping sound afterwards in return. But this time? This was a little bummer. Also a reason why I moved forwards to the front.
But in the end of the day it was a unforgettable night. A little short as always. I had the naive hope they'd do a longer show as a reward for us waiting almost a 3/4 year. There was a moment when it looked promising because the audience kept clapping for minutes and I thought "maybe they come back for another 1 or 2 tracks". But I learned my lesson: once "Love Is All" shows up you know, it's over.
Thanks Ed, Tom, for another great show and my apologies about my childish "Miloco" call during the set. It was rediculous :-D, I know.
I had a fantastic time, thanks.

Some great pics there!!!
Them clown visuals are surreal!
When I went to see them in December, they had the clown visuals, and there general visuals were just as good as always. Simian Mobile Disco supported them when I was there, doing a DJ Set. But I like SMD so it was a bonus. The Chems blew me away obvs. I just wish I was a little bit older so I could of saw them a few more times. Awesome review though Csar!

Big thanks Csar for the review! And great pics bro, especially the great close-ups of the 'Mothership'. Plus the very scary-haunting looking venue. Looks like a horror movie set! The 'Singles' artwork is a bonus!
Small favor! Can you put them here!

It was a great venue. The best I've ever been to. Their set made it even better. Was quite a combination chems(future electro music) and cidadelle (old fashioned brick-work).
Concerning flickr; do I have to sign up there to put on my pics?

Csar, thank you for the wonderful review and for the LOADS of pictures!! I remember when the original gig was cancelled and rescheduled, you put a picture up of the venue and it looked like an amazing place for a show - so gorgeous. The contrast of the venue vs. the high tech Chems gig bridging the gap between past and future. And calling out for Miloco, hahaha - nice!
Oh, and you will need a flickr account in order to put your pics up to the Live portion of the site.

just found out that Dom & Nic did the vid for Midnight Madness!
I love the vids for Believe and The Test, but something got lost in the translation in MM video as I mentioned before in another thread.
Anyway, I think I'll just put the video behind me once and for all!

I bought the video from iTunes - much better quality than the shoddy yahoo stream, but still not clicking with me as I hoped it would.
Dom & Nic also did Block Rockin Beats and I never cared too much for that one either. Still though, Dom & Nic are awesome. Some of my favorite Chems videos are the ones they've done (The Test and Salmon Dance and Believe are so brilliant) - so I guess you win some and lose some.

I'm good with not criticizing chems stuff but now is the time to act. This video is crap. It looks soo rushed and the concept is just retarded. Here's the video producer talking to his baby cousin:
videoproducer- "hey i got this song called midnight madness, i wanna make a video about it, what should it be about?"
babycousin- "dahhhh, night time, and crazy guy"
videoproducer- "oshit, great idea" "hey whats that you're drawing there?"
babycousin- "harry potter, hez a wizard, an das a goblin hesz fihting"
videoproducer- "hmmmm"
Tom, Ed, please, it's midnight, and i've had enough of this madness. Bring back videos like Star Guitar and Believe!
