Hey, I know I talking about this an album to late, but just wondering what your thoughts are about this album? I think its been slated way to much. Alot of people seem to dislike it but Im a big fan of it. For a start CWU is a brilliant opening track, I also really like ITIA, GB, SG, Hoops and The Test. I regard it as just as good as PTB.
i think I didn't get into to it as much because I had already heard a number of the tracks before the album ever came out.
afrika
galaxy bounce
star guitar
..I was already familiar with those tracks in the first section. Kinda thew me off a bit. It would have been the same if they had inckuded Golden Path and Het Yourself High on Push the Button. I am glad they didn't.

yeah, I loved that track when I first heard it. Have you heard the track that the vocals came from yet? It will make you laugh for sure.

I might be killed after saying this, but it's my favourite Chems album.
I agree its very good, I dont think its the worst, imho its better than DYOH and EPD, not quite as good as Surrender and just as good as PTB.

it's a fantastic album. when i listened to it at first my thoughts about it were a bit strange because i just wanted to hear something like dig your own hole, it was the time i got in touch with the brothers, not through that album, just at all (started with prodigy and then ...)
And the more i listen it the more i dig it. Well it grows on me every time i put it in my stereo....
besides the test, which's my favorite track on that record, there's also My Elastic Eye, which i think is one of the brothers unrecognized track, beside Let Forever Be. 3 or 4 days ago i said to myself, 'well you need to listen to Hoops', because that nice guitar-line came to my mind again and again. Sweet tune. Ok, i could say nice things about almost all tracks on that album but that would sound like i'm addicted by the brothers, hehe, what were actually not the wrong track but...
I also love the ones you listed there, especially Galaxy Bounce with its nice bassline that makes the song quite rokky, i think the one on the singles album has better intro and outro but i know they need to mix it with IBIA and it wouldn't work well with that single-like one.
I could go on but i have to go on

This album is a little bit insipid for me.
Star Guitar has a great video, I love it, when I first saw it I was like "ok, we went into a train and filmed... oh oh... wait... COOL! it goes with the music!" X-D

I think the hardest thing for me to swallow when it came to Come With Us was the overall flow of the record. For some reason, it just didn't vibe right with me, it seemed to scatter all over the place, to me it just didn't feel as consistant as their other records which I felt was out of place for the Chems. In retrospect I realize the Chems were at a sort of crossroads in their career and quite possibly, at a crossroad in their personal lives (I think The Test, one of my favorite songs ever, kind of sums up my assumption.)
Anyway, overall I think Come With Us was a good effort and it truly does have its beautiful, touching and profound moments. I think regardless of the weak response this record got, it was a necessary stepping stone for the Chemical Brothers as people and as artists. I think eventually we all reach a sort of crossroad in our lives, and the Chems are no different than we are in that aspect. It's just that they bare all that in their music...

I would say it's my favourite Chems album, too, and I'm really into just about all the songs, except....
I think my least favourite from that record is actually...
The Test.
Maybe it's because of what a friend of mine pointed out to me that's it's just kind of annoying and repetitive in parts, esp. towards the end.. that said, I think it's grown on me more over the years.
I think it's hard to list my favourites from the album because I pretty much love all of the album and it's one of those that I think of as a whole and not so much as individual tracks put together, and I actually really dig the flow of it. 2002 was when I really started to get into the Chems and Come With Us was the first album I actually bought (though I was already familiar with all of Surrender..), and so maybe that's why I like it so much.
