3 new songs on his myspace http://www.myspace.com/beck

Nausea (bosco's opinion 5/10)

Strange Apparition (bosco's opinion 2/10)

Motorcade (bosco's opinion 7/10)

wikipedia Escribi:

The Information is a 2006 album by Beck. It was produced by longtime Beck collaborator Nigel Godrich.

Unlike Mutations and Sea Change, the previous Beck albums produced by Godrich, The Information will not be a "stripped down" record. [1] According to Beck, Godrich "said he wanted to do a hip-hop record" before they began work on the album. "And in a way it is, and in a way it isn't. It has hip-hop songs, and my previous work with him was Mutations and Sea Change, these sort of introspective records, and so this new one is sort of bringing those two worlds together." [2]

The album will come with a blank sleeve and booklet and a sheet of stickers for people to make their own album art. It will also come with a disc of videos - one for each track on the record. [1]

The first single was confirmed to be "Nausea", and officially goes to radio on September 5th, 2006. [3]

An additional single will be "Cell Phone's Dead", with a video directed by Michel Gondry.[4]

Track listing

"Elevator Music"

"Think I'm In Love"

"Cell Phone's Dead"

"Nausea"

"Soldier Jane"

"Strange Apparition"

"Dark Star"

"Movie Theme"

"We Dance Alone"

"No Complaints"

"1000 BPM"

"Motorcade"

"The Information"

"New Round"

"Horrible Fanfare / Landslide / Exoskeleton"

I know its early to say this , since I haven't fully listened to the new album, but it looks like i will be dissapointed with beck's new album once again

None of his new material seems fresh or funky any more. He once was a great alternative artist (and my personal favorite at one time), but now it seems he struggles to be alternative. Ive said this before and ill say it again, getting married was the worst decision Beck made. :(

Its my fault though, I shouldnt expect much out of a Scientologist

i thought those songs sounded ace.

beck is a musical genius imo. guero was wicked, really psychedelic and eclectic. hope this new one follows a simillar route. sounds like it will. :D

ugh i really dislike guero and seachange, and the new album doesnt sound very promising at all.

Beck use to be, "music first, lyrics second" but now he's "lyrics first, music second". He totally fucked up the great formula he once had. I think he's really trying to fit this "new aged Bob Dylan" persona. He just needs to be himself damnit!

REMEMBER! ........."two turntables and a microphone" is "where its at"

see i really dont rate odelay that much. i think it had a couple of good singles, but as an album i thought it was alright, but a bit cheesy/big-beaty.

like a fine wine i think he's improved with age - his song writings got much more complex and he's showed how versatile he is. and your point about lyrics/music, nah sorry i dont agree with that at all - i think the musics got stronger as he's got older

stil horses for courses and all that. still love to see him live though :)

I know It's not good as Midnight Vultures or Mutations, but (I don't know why) I cannot stop listening this album! It gets better every time I listen to it. :)

Anyone agrees?

I didn't like Midnight vultures....

I have a copy of The Information, it's, eh, it's ok, but it's no Odelay.

Stereopathetic Soul Manure is still my favorite. The song 'Satan Gave Me A Taco' is his best song ever.

Haven't had a chance to give a full listen to The Information so I can't pass full and critical judgment, but I thought the parts I have listened to are all right.

Gosh, how can someone in his sanity not like Sea Change? 8O 8O I'm shocked and appalled!! It's absolutely beautiful. Surely, it's not good for some party mood, but it's a really perfect 'after-hours chillout session' kind of album.

However, I gotta agree that Guero is pretty awful. It does have a few good songs though - Broken Drum (sounds like outtake from Sea Change by the way!), Missing, Girl... Clap Hands gets me every time - it's too R&B-ish, but really funky IMHO. And OMG, the Boards Of Canada remix of Broken Drum and Royksopp remix of Missing are ABSOLUTELY FUN-FUCKING-TASTIC!!!!

The Information is kinda OK, I'd give it 4 stars if I were some pretentious album-rating Mixmag reviewer wannabe. I really love the first 6 tracks of the album, especially Think I'm In Love (Spiritualized anyone?) and Soldier Jane (Sea Change-ish tune once again, but more upbeat) - but the rest doesn't do much for me.

And call me what you like, but I've still yet to hear his other classic albums like Odelay, Midnite Vultures, Mutations, etc. :-//

Ohhh, welcome back anType! :D

When Sea Change was released I was ok with it. Didnt love it, didnt hate it. Then all of a sudden all these prog. rock (radiohead fans) people, started to gawk over Sea Change. I thought, "ok cool, whatever, glad Beck is getting attention. But just so you know this isnt he typically makes music. "

3 years later Beck releases Guero, prog. rock fans take the bait again. I spit it out. Was even more upset and disappointed to find out that the great producers the Dust Brothers, helped make such a mediocre piece of crap.

I started to draw a line across Beck's Career.

Two parts:

"Mellow Gold" thru "Midnite Vultures" = the good stuff

"Sea Change" thru "Guero"= the lame stuff

But again, i dont really hate the album "Sea Change." It was just the starting point of something new for him musically, and I didnt and still dont like where it has taken him.

.........yeah, that probably makes no sense

my first impressions from this album are:

its pretty cool, it doesnt feel as immediate as guero but i think it might be a bit of a grower.

i think i'm in the same boat as everyone else here.

love the first half, but the second half gets a little meh... i do however find myself liking it more and more with repeat listens, like with every beck album (yes even guero)
