I hoped they would be more creative.
True Dat. Right now, Discovery has been their most impressive album thus far.

I think it's impressive they were able to work with a large orchestra having had no classical training whatsoever.

That's pretty interesting. Had to laugh at the failed hard drive story, clever idea.
Well, I just listened to the leak. Simply put - used in the context of the movie, it's going to f**king flat out rock. But outside of it, it does not deliver. Anything. That soundcloud leak is essentially what each of the tracks is like - more or less just raw material made for the movie, and the movie only. None of the tracks have really been developed into a song. That's something they really needed to have done here. I'm just as super pumped to see Tron, and the music in the environment it was made to be played in. But as far as a new Daft Punk album goes, well, this release really isn't.
I like the remixes
and fake tracks
a whole lot better anyway.

it´s not their fault, their sound has been SO copied over the years that it´ll be impossible to feel surprised anymore, WN.
I think they have gone all the "classic soundtrack" way, Herrmann references and all. And people was waiting for popness. But Thomas Bangalter did a great work in Irreversible, so I just don´t know what to think...

Defined a little more formally, "escape velocity" is the initial speed required to go from an initial point in a gravitational potential field to infinity with a residual velocity of zero, with all speeds and velocities measured with respect to the field

I'm liking the basic slack edit mix best from Derezzed.
