My first reaction to the track is: This is pretty fuckin' good. I can't believe The Prodigy still brings it hard after 25 years.

It litterally is a copy of it.

Both Nasty and The Day Is My Enemy are good, compared to what's released nowadays, but it's nothing new from the Prodigy. To me they sound like rejected demos from AONO/IMD era.

"The Uploader has not made this available in your country".

But the official Prodigy Vevo people have.

Not bad. I think I'd dance to this. And then be a bit knackered.

Well, to be frank, I kind of like it. 64-bit sounds with 4-semitone offsets never cease to amaze me. I also like the synth melody. However, Liam could have made more out of it. I wish he would do more layered and complex tracks like he did on Jilted Generation. This track surely has potential but is still a bit flat. But anyways, I dig it.

What I don't get, though, are the videos. They're sort of disturbing.

The other two songs that were released previously have grown on me to some degree. So I think calling this yet-to-be-released album their worst is a bit unfair.

Btw, Liam also reused that door-like squeaking noise from Omen. Did you notice?

Yes. Part of why I find the track weak and uninspired

I like the nintendo-synth stuff, love the big beats (the're big!) but hate the vocals... an instrumental would do it for me.

Oh come on, Benji. On how many occasions did the chems reuse sounds and noises? Like the famous birdy crash cymbal that's sort of become a chems' trademark?
This is a debatable argument ;)

Btw, how come that so many songs have already been relased before the album? is this due to new developments in the music industry (leaks and stuff)?

Nothing new in this material. Sounds like an extension of IMD.

I enjoyed it as much as I would enjoy any Prodigy track. Great to bounce to, but... man is there a lack of subtlety. I know if I'm looking for subtlety The Prodigy isn't exactly the place to go, but I've never been able to get into them for that reason.

Instrumentally it's awesome though, definitely agree with Csar on all points.

Might, or might not be interest to one or two here. Eddy's weekly show is Friday nights on Xfm. I think 10pm UK time, I haven't listened for a while.

Eddy Temple-Morris@eddyTM 2h2 hours ago I'm recording something special with @the_prodigy tomorrow...can't say what yet but it's thigh strokingly good. Watch this space.

EDIT: Whatever this is/was, it wasn't on Eddy's show last Friday.

Incidentally they are also releasing a coloured 7" of Ibiza for Record Store Day

^ I suspect the thing that Eddy recorded was a full album playback combined with an interview with Liam. Probably to be broadcast on Xfm in a couple of Fridays time.

Meanwhile John Robb from Louder Than War has done a track by track review of the album. It may be worth remembering that he comes from a 'Punk Rock' background so he may not be as likely to dissect the production or train-spot the samples in the same way that folks around here would.

Wall Of Death

Very mixed feelings about TDIME. Title track may be the best song Liam sets up in the past 10 years, Nasty is also at least listenable - but Wild Frontier and now Wall Of Death? I really don't know...

On the upside, while it's not quite a verse-chorus-verse song, at least Keith has a lot of different little nonsensical catchphrases he switches between instead of just one that he runs into the ground.
And there are some DJ Mustard fingersnaps at 1:29, which is kind of amusing.
I'm really reaching here guys

They've done it. They've actually out-angsted Linkin Park. "You are now entering rebel territory." "Fuck you and your heart attack."

I'm going to cut myself on all these edges.

"Follow me to the wall of death." Wall of Death? MST3K probably riffed a movie called that...

Sorry, WhieNoise, I didn't get a thing you were saying. Could you please rephrase?

Well the song itself is weird, somehow. Not necessarily in bad way. It mangages to convey the flavour of various styles like punk, electro and the oldschool rave era (especially that synth melody). But to me this all feels just like another stomper Liam has become so comfortable with since FOTL. It's like in the review above, everything seems like it's been created just to hit hard without any compromises. Nuances and subtleties are few and far between. Every song feels like a message of something, a statement of Liam's, a view into his personality. And with that said, he comes across as a very pissed man with a pile load of anger. I mean, that man is a genius in his field, he created a unique musical style, an unparalleled sound. But at the same time he seems to be trapped in what he's created, sticking to "one" formula, afraid of exploring other territories or facettes (even of the same sound).
Maybe I'm over-analyzing it.

Let's see what "Beyond the deathray" has to offer which according to the above review is described as calmer and less aggressive. I'm interested in such an approach of Liam's.

In a nutshell, I liked the other one's better.
