Yes, but does JJ Abrahms despise his audience as much as Lars Von Trier does? ;)

Considering what Mr. Abrams has done to us with Lost, I would say that yes, yes he hates his audience even more than Lars 'I-Would-Like-to-Thank-My-Lord-Satan-for-Allowing-Me-to-Make-Movies' Von Trier.
At least Lars wraps up the plot lines in his flicks.

Cloverfield was pretty amazing. I had been watching all of the stuff since the teaser trailer in front of The Transformers and I gotta say, I was still impressed. the movie met all of my expectations.
Now, before you say, it was fucking lame, there was no point/plot, and the camera was bouncy/annoying... there were some redeeming factors. For instance. the monsters were pretty damn amazing. The biggin definitely was worth the wait. Also, the idea behind the film was to prompt thoughts about what would happen if another disaster was to hit the states. whether that be a monster attack, a terrorist attack, a natural disaster, etc. ... I would have to say that things were pretty accurate as far as how people would be reacting. There was chaos and a sense of self preservation coming from the mobs of people in the streets. You really didn't see anyone really helping each other... and to me, that is probably one of the most terrifying parts.
Anyways, I would say Cloverfield was a great movie. It had plenty of action, the imagery was amazing, and it was actually thought provoking.
but that is just me. take it or leave it.

Um, well, I saw Across the Universe in October. That was okay. I'm a hardcore Beatles fan so seeing everyone running around singing Beatles songs was just a TAD cheesy. But I'm not a purist so if you're into musicals go and rent it.
I Am Legend was good except for the fact all the "zombies" looked like cartoon characters.

I saw 1408 yesterday. I liked it. Not as terrifying as I expected, but good.
Saw I am legend too, it was great, and it avoids a lot of clichés. And We own the night, really really good movie ! Plus one of my friend is Joaquim Phoenix's lookalike in that movie. So striking that everyone who saw the movie keep telling him that.

NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN.....SEE IT!!!!
I just saw it last night and I initially thought it was just pretty good. But after letting it sink in overnight and today, I realized the movie is bloody EXCELLENT! I think Anton Chigurh is my favorite character in any movie EVER.
I would like to see THERE WILL BE BLOOD, next.

Oh God, Bosco, I love you. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
That's just awesome--a perfect start to my Monday morning.
In a completely dorky move, my girlfriend and I watched The Two Towers, the Extended Edition through THC-infused eyes the weekend before last. I enjoyed it so much more than I thought I would. I had never sat through any of the extended editions before then.

We watched No Country for Old Men last week, fucking awesome movie. I love the Coen Brothers.
We also rented Shoot Em Up, because, well, Clive Owen, Paul Giamatti and Monica Bellucci.
It was hilarious, flat-out balls to the wall comic book action, more comic booky than Sin City even, but with this awesome, subversive pro-gun control subtext.

haha! The shoot out sex scene was sorta hot.
I love Clive Owen, but I digress.
I will need to re-watch No Country For Old Men. It was a long day, had a stressful week and I crashed out about half way through. It was a really great film from what I saw, and it was had the creepy and desolate and bleak elements down pat. The Coen Brothers are just brilliant. So many of their films get better once you've had a night to sleep on 'em.
I Am Legend was all right, it was quite entertaining. It wasn't a bad film, Will Smith delivered well and the effects weren't too shabby, but I didn't like the ending at all. It was typical Hollywood tailor-made-for-American-movie-goers. I haven't read the book but from what I understand, the movie diverted from the actual story in quite a few ways. Let's just say the ending in the book was far more bleak than the movie let on.

Is No Country For Old Men extremely excellent?
Cormac McCarthy is one of the best American writers ever (behind 'stash and one or two others) -- but I have trouble imagining his poetry on film. Ethan and Joel Coen, however, both are talented and have vision.
If it is as good as I've heard it is, I will be picking this up on Blu-ray.

Shoot 'Em Up is a fantastic tongue-in-cheek, cheesy one liner film.
No Country For Old Men is a top class, disturbing but enjoyable watch.
I Am Legend was a heap of junk with 5 year old CGI effects and was poorly directed, although finely acted by Will Smith.
Atonement is a bit to deep for me, but a good film in all I guess, if you're into that shit. I prefer roundhouse kicks and explosions myself - unfortunately Van Damme doesn't make great films anymore.

Watched Sweeney Todd last night.
I guess it has a very, very narrow fan base, like, you have to love Johnny Depp, love Helena Bonham Carter and love Tim Burton so much you'll just watch them doing anything for any reason.
Helena Bonham Carter looks like a laudanum addict that someone left buried in a basement for 10 years., but I lurv her.

I thought I AM LEGEND dit NOT live up to its name. I do think Will Smith did an excellent job. Lots of jokes are made about him but he did deliver in this film! When i saw the zombies i was like " NOOOO! NOT ANOTHER ZOMBIE FILM!!! " but it was nice eye candy.
Going to see Cloverfield soon. Quite looking fwd to that one!

Well, I'm back from the cinema after watching CLOVERFIELD.
My review: I can't believe I'm saying this but AVP2 was better than Cloverfield, and AVP2 was very average. I want a refund!
To think, I had been looking forward to Cloverfield for all these months :( what is it with shit films this year?

I haave seen Cloverfield the day before yesterday and when it was finished all i could say was ' wow. woooow. wohoooow '
this movie is not about the caracters. it's not about the great story line. this is a 100% scary monster flick and its the best one ive ever seen. Its like a big rollercoasterride. I have to say i felt a bit nauchios towards the end of the film cause of the way it was filmed , but it works.
It's such an intens film, i fucking loved it!
