I saw VNV open for Apoptygma Berzerk at a small club about... geez, something like 5 years ago. I'd never heard of either bands but my friend was into them and I needed a night out, so she treated me. VNV's set was pretty cool, just the guy singing onstage and another person back at the mixingboard doing the rest. What was really great was the energy coming just from this one guy onstage, he was really into it. He'd put his arms in the air and tell us, "can you hear this, can you hear what I'm hearing? Just put your arms in the air and feel this with me." I remember the lyrics being very beautiful, almost desolate but filled with a sort of hope - he wasn't all mopey and there was no bad attitude. He had a great connection with the small audience who were mainly there to see Apop. I gotta say in comparison to Apop, VNV won hands down.

It's all about the hair. As long as the hairspray is safely stowed under the bathroom sink where it belongs. Too much hair product is a fire hazard in clubs.
