Well, it looks like I'm going to see the Chems without you then, dear husband. We'll see how quickly you change your tune when you see what gets me off, hehe. :P You know it's not easy quitting a cult!!!11
I'm with voodoo on all accounts as far as this thread goes. As long as the music is heard, if it turns on 1 person who then turns his/her friends on... that's more people that might not have heard otherwise. I don't want Chems all to myself, I want the Chems to have continued success. I'd love it if the Chems felt more welcome in the US and did more shows so you all who haven't seen them get that chance. I don't see how getting the music out and heard is a bad thing. This isn't the olden days where the local radio stations turned us onto new music. Record shops are barely breathing over here in the US. The market has changed and steps need to be made to catch up.
I'm also not totally against younger people getting into the mix. Fresh outlooks help keep us older folk from getting too jaded. ;)
But I will say this: Second Life is crap. And so is the label "emotronic". I think those of us who do use myspace should message Errol and tell him to please drop that hideous label!!

This is sort of random unchecked speculation but they probably won't drop that name because the chems would probably be the biggest name in this genre. Second, maybe it has nothing to do with emo, but is more based around the idea that so much electronic is emotionless and this band and others of "emotronic" will connotate something that soulless techno wont. In other words, "hey this music isn't creepy emotionless fetish techno" genre

OK.. you have a point. The Chemical Brothers are different than countless other electronic acts that are devoid of soul, warmth and emotion. It's just that unfortunately, emo has such negative connotations associated with it. It's been had. The whole "emo" thing is monopolized by all "emo" bands before -tronic was tacked on to the end. If they can turn emo around singlehandedly and bring a new perspective to the term... I guess it's good to try and be positive. But I'd hate for people to be saying somewhere down the line in a couple of years or 5 years or 10 years "man, why can't the Chems make emotronic like they used to back in the day"... Big beat anyone?
And I'm still trying to get the taste of nu rave bile out of my mouth. Thanks Tyler!!!! :P

'The Emo Dance'
"Let me introduce you to a brand new dance,
I know you're gonna love it cause you cut your hands,
It's not complicated, It's not too hard,
Just dye your hair black and be a retard"
The emotronic label is not on the main myspace page luckily. AND GREAT POINT WHIRLY ABOUT BIG BEAT, THAT TERM IS EARLY 90s EMOTRONIC-STYLE NAZI LABELING OF EVERY SOMEWHAT DIFFERENT SOUND THAT COMES OUT OF A BROADER CATEGORY!
