well keep in mind it might be run through the sh-101 sequencer, so it's a little detective work to match the single sound to it. but it seems visible

Biff did you try to reproduce the Monopoly patch too ? And those colored stickers on the keys, what are they here for ? Probably to know which keys to press at a certain time, right ?

So, what's the SH 101 patch like ? Could someone post a recording of it ?

Is the MPC under the Octave Cat the same that's on the left of the mackie ? Or is it another one ?

EDIT : oh, and someone on another forum told that he saw daft punk back in 97, and said the distortion pedal was a Boss Metalzone for sure. So I'll try to get one and try that on the Juno :)

my monopoly is no longer with me, remember? (runs off sobbing).. my guess is the opening noises sound like a monopoly, I cannot wait to buy one at some point. yeah, that's definitely a metalzone, juno + distortion = awesomeness

Oh, I'm sorry for your monopoly, I know it was your favourite :(

What do you mean by the opening sound ? The one at the end of Tomorrow never knows ? Or during TNK ? Or the sounds at the beginning of Galvanize ?

yeah, the heavy synth, it's not a part of galvanize, but yeah, after the intro and before the song, kinda a droning noise, but heavy.

I thought it was the 777. They must use the M/P for something else, since there are different color stickers and marks around the knobs

olde news chap.

Ben_j I think we're thinking of 2 different things. The mono/poly is the effects they've been using before the first track for as long as they've been playing, even on the 95 recordings. it's always before the first song. I don't think they use it in any songs cause it doesn't look like the CV or Midi if they modified is hooked up, so probably a really slow arpeggio that makes those droning noises.

ok I thought you talked about the sound at the begining of Galvanize. The 4 notes arpeggio.

In other news : I was fooling around with the MS2000 and found a nice "Sound of Big Babou" (a track by Laurent Garnier) sounding patch. Since I was reaaaally bored, I even did a video of that, because I know people like blinking red LEDs.

I'm getting a TR 505 in a few days. Should be cool to sequence Ableton Live's Drum Rack, since Ableton has no shuffle option

Don't know the song though but it has a certain prodigyèsque sound.

E(argasm) = m(usic) x c(hemicals)²

I used to have a 505, they are actually not bad. kinda miss mine, but I have a machinedrum, so I think I'm set with drums for a bit... not that I'm bragging

was it a good drum sequencer ? I might get a Novation Drumstation next and sequence it with the 505 to get groovy beats.

Did you circuit-bent it ?

I didn't use the sequencer for it. basically straight forward use with an external sequencer. not a big fan of circuit-bending

hm but was it straight or does it groove like the 909 ?

EDIT : the cowbells in Do it again live sound a lot like the 505's. Any chance they are the 505's?

kinda seemed like a good sub for a 909, if you want something mildly more organic sounding

I didn't really use the sequencer on it, kinda just hooked it up to an external, it was pretty sharp. sounds like you're thinking of the R8 drum machine, which is supposed to have that real feel.
