So I guess now I am the only person to blame for negative comments about this track. I must say I'm fairly disappointed by the majority of forumers because you seem to have lost the will to criticise and have turned into (everything is great) 'blind' fans.

Whirlygirl - I have always respected your comments as you are one of the most mature people on this forum and you have been here the longest I guess. I didn't like that you pointed to my comments as being unreasonable. And this leads me to one issue about you - I have never seen you criticise even slightly, anything that relates to Chems music. Now I know that this is probably a part of your personality to put a positive spin on everything, but that doesn't mean that your comments should be the true and only ways of looking at things.

I guess Jeanie falls in the same category, but to me she always seems like an euphoric, overexcited raver after poping five E's at 3 am. So even if Tom and Ed released a track where they randomly hit a rubish bin with a stick - she would find it mindblowing. God bless your optimism Jeanie.

For me this song does not represent The Chemical Brothers that I have fell in love since 1996. No, I do not want another 'DYOH'. Yes I will probably find this song more catchy after 100 listens, but guess what- the same will happen with Christina Aguilera's 'Candy Man' and that doesn't make it a good song.

I played this song to a mate who is not a great fan of electronic music but has always respected Chems as something of an intelligent man's dance music - he thought that I was joking around when he heard it. When he realised it was really Chems he had a 'WTF' look on his face. People comparing this song the 'how bad the Golden Path was' are wrong because a) Goldenth Path was never a part of the new album and b) It was never a bad song - just a different style (Wayne Coyne is a genius).

Offcourse, not every Chems song should be an emotional trip full of meaning about life - but come on, Chems can do a better raw, floor thumping tune than this - I have no idea why they worked with Ali Love in the first place as there seems to be no connection between Chems and him in this song. Again, I still have a strong belief that WATN is going to be an excellent album - but I honestly think that Tom and Ed have made a mistake of making 'Do it Again' the first single. It will probably recieve a poor reaction from the fans of electronic music as well as commercial stations.

Think Erol Alkan played this as his first tune at fabric on Friday (not heard it on the radio hence the unsureness) and it sounded wicked on the room two soundsystem :) Will try to "listen again" once I'm home to confirm.

Alchemist you have a right to dislike the tune. I don't like the Golden Path even after 100 listens, you do, it's just a matter of taste... There's a big difference between the production behing any chems song and "Candy man"...

Very, very good one. Over 7 minutes long!!! Probably an extended version which will not be on the album but on the 2nd CDM. I love the track but 7 minutes is a bit too long in my opion.

Chemical Brothers tracks are NEVER too long!

I felt like CWU was the closest thing to DYOH and after much years I like it more. To me it sounds like an organic more positive version of dyoh. so if Tom & Ed are reading, I want you to know that CWU is the biggest grower album ever, after it settles in and we start to get what you were striving for, it is fuckin amazing and a great album to listen to during things like long drives or any free 60 minutes or so

Biff, I love you for that!

I never thought of it in that way, and it truly makes alot of sense! Especially, since my top two favorite albums from The Chemical Brothers are DYOH and CWU.

However, CWU was never a grower album for me. It struck me good and hard when I first heard it, and became an instant favorite for me. And To this day, I'm still puzzled as of why this album got such bad feedback. Maybe, im not hearing it the same as everyone else or something? :?

The same for me, PTB on the other hand is the only Chem album that I didn't like the first time i listened.

downhill since surrender for moi,the golden path is really strong and surface to air is a classic, feel they need some competition at this stage in their careers,do it again is poor and when I played it to my stepbro he cud not believe it,we both love the first three albums, simply because the songwriting is better and there is no cheese...

ha ha ha i think i'm the only consistant poster on this forum that still hasn't heard this track, and i think over the weekend this post topic has gone from 8 pages to 35 or something like that.

Got shit radio reception down here and the college computers won't play the radio 1 play back so can't do that either, but i actually don't mind as i'm going to wait for the release of it soon then cane it and make sure that all the clubs i go to in Falmouth are playing it, even if it is me who is playing it out.

Anyway that's my two $

i think the reason people took exception to your post was the condescending way you described people who liked the new track.

just because people here like it doesnt mean:

a) we have become blind fans

or

b) we have spent too long on this forum!

in fact, using logic and also the reasons you used to describe why you dont like this tune (its not raw and 'thumping' enough) which you indicate is the chems sound, surely people here are MORE likely not to like it?

however, people here are an open-minded bunch and maybe they hear things in this record that you dont?

and seriously - your point about tunes being growers - if you really think that listening to candy man 100 times will make it sound better, you are more than welcome to try. both you and i know that you are, quite literally, talking piss.

i dont know why im bothering as a) you probably like the crystal method and b) the plump dj's are probably your favourite dj's, but theres no need for personal attacks on people.

i think the main reason youve got a bug in your arse is the fact that you have been caught talking out of your smelly bottom.

of course you have a right not to like the tune. thats fair enough. theres tracks the chems have done that i dont particularly rate. but just because you dont like it doesnt mean that other people cant enjoy it.

i think its a wicked bit of music, and i look forward to hearing it off my chops on a dancefloor at some point very soon.

Care to tell me what sort of profiling you can do of people who like The Crystal Method and Plump Dj's? You might be able to guide me in life.

At first I couldn't be bothered to react just like Mips but COME ON!!! You are blind in your own view of the song and can not be bothered by other people opinions. There are numerous people here whom like/dislike certain tracks.

I know Whirly as a very reasonable woman, openminded for other peoples opinion, unlike you.

Obviously never been clubbing with Jeanie. When I first talked to her after the play on Pete's show she wasn't enthousiastic of the track.

Production whise Golden Path is a good track but not all of us have to like it. And in YOUR opion Wayne Coyne is a genius. That is probably why you like every track he has a hand on.

Alchemist Escribi:

Obviously you've missed a lot in the last 11 years.

1) The Chemical Brothers always collaberated with unusual singers. Fat Lip raises a brow with me. Q-tip sounded very promising but I don't care for Galvanize that much.

2) The Chemical Brothers always have a single, or a first track on the album which is a-blow-the-dust-out-of-your-speakers track. And I think Do it again is another one of that kind of 1st singles. 7 minutes is overdoing it in my opinion but it's got that decent bass again and it definetly will blow on the dancefloors.

3) Maybe the Chemical Brothers have put this track as a first single for a reason. It is very club friendly, it is radio friendly because of the vocals, it has a bit of an "urban" (god I hate that word) vibe to it. I believe it will do good in the charts. And that makes that more people will gave the album a go. And why not do it in that order if you can bring more of your psychedelic epic tracks to a wider audience.

Please let this topic be open for discussion and not call certain people 'blind' fans or do it again haters (what did that already with Golden Path ;-) ). I myself loved Do it again the first time I heard it and it got better and better hearing it over decent sound systems. I strongly believe that the majority of WATN will be psychedelic anthems/euphoric tracks in the likes of TPPR, TSSU, the Test, EBW 8.

And being a fan from the EPD era I had my likes and dislikes about certain tracks. But I also experienced that I can change my view on certain tracks. I didn't like Buzz tracks for years and a few days ago it popped up on my mp3 player and I like.

So maybe being open minded about yourself makes you minden for others.
