Do you people have any special albums you stick on to get you motivated when you work out? I don't expect you americans to respond to this topic, cos it's obvious you lot don't work out.
For me it's the Rocky Soundtrack. It's more of a custom rocky collection (best of). Works everytime, no matter where I am, and I hear it I go mental, press ups on the floor, running up stairs/escalators, no skipping though, that's for girls ;)

I don't work out, I don't like gyms. But I walk to uni everyday, and never without some kind of music. Usually either the chems, orbital, underworld or the plumps. Depends what mood I'm in, actually quite a lot of the time I'll listen to one of my mixes on my MD player. Before I leave the house, I'll spend like 2-3 minutes just standing in front of my CD rack deciding what I wanna listen to. Wow, music is great, isn't it?!

Obviously you've never been to California. People here make a living working out, they practically live at the gym then get plastic surgery to fix the things that pilates can't. ;)
I used to go to a gym religiously a couple of years ago - but the gyms are filthy and after a while I started getting sick every other week. Last straw was a bizarre cold that settled in my eyes. Complaining to the people running the gym didn't help. I don't care what kind of gym it is, I've been to a few and I've come to the conclusion gyms are frikken vile. People sweating all over things, then not remembering *cough cough - laziness!* to wipe the equipment off, and the bathrooms are all humid and nasty so you're practically breathing in the thick human sweat of other people, and the smell is... yuck. I don't think that is something that can really be controlled by anyone, it's just a fact of life but it doesn't make it any less gross.
I walk sometimes and am getting a bicycle soon in time for summer and when the weather turns real nice there's some great places to hike where I live. I don't have a walkman anymore so obviously I don't listen to anything while working out (plus the ear sweat caused the headphones to constantly slip about my ear. ) Listening to anything while riding a bike could cost you your life around these parts!

I've been sporadically going to the gym at my apartment complex - I've got to shape up because there's this dress I really want to wear for my sis-in-law's wedding so I've been making more an effort lately. Plus if I want to bike this summer I have to be more fit - maybe I'll even smoke less if I don't die of a heart attack on the treadmill first. I know the gym at my complex is relatively clean because hardly anyone's ever in there, it's small and well maintained, and I can keep the door open for proper fresh air/ventilation. Besides its free and 24 hours. The gross-out factor is still there and it bugs the crap out of me, but it's more bearable than the gyms I've wasted my money on in the past.
Too bad my walkman is broken. But working out is a good time for me to catch up on reading. I'm a low impact sort of girl. ;0
