WOAHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Well guys I just got back before and I'm ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY FRIGGEN BLOWN AWAY!!!

I've been shaking for the past few hours after the gig and I finally forced myself to stop. I wish I could write a full review now but I need to get myself together and think about the whole experience.

Grr I'm having trouble remembering set list too, I got as far as: Galvanize

Burst Generator

Do it Again

Get Yourself High

And I can't remember the rest in order (maybe later when I come back to earth :P)...

Anyways I'm going to bed now (or trying)and maybe a better review in the morning and even photos from my crappy 5 mega pix camera!!

love is all folks...

its a little early but thanks anyway

the visuals were fucked, way too far, i was blown away.

during EBW8, that is the song i was thinking would fuck me up most, i thought i would be just crazy broken, and so when it finally came, i was feeling almost dissapointed it did not have the effect i was expecting...

and then...

the paint exploded. and i stopped moving, fell onto my knees and cried into my arms like a baby.

shit, it broke me. this was the best moment of my life, tonight and back in 2005 at Big day out:

i was able to live in the milisecond, i did not care what was coming next, or what had happened prior, i was living in the moment for the only times ever that whole set, even at other bands shows i have been to, even if i am loving it, i can't help going: "hmm i wonder what they are going to play next..." i can't just appreciate what is happening then and there,

but tonight, i was there and then exactly, the future and past was irrelivant. fuck.

i can not explain how amazed i was by the visuals and everything, at times it felt as though iwas watching the brothers flying through a church, completely un-concerned about it, just like:

"yeah, whatev, were flyng through a church, get overit already"

highlights for me:

EBW8, without a doubt best moment of my life.

Surface to air, watching those butterflies rise up, i was on the verge of tears, i was not prepared and was so suprised at how beautiful i felt inside, it hit me hard and i almost broke.

nude night, fuck off with that shit.

the big jump pieces thrown into do it again.

Das Spiegel, damn, so pretty, i make the assumption that song was written about tom's kids.

chemical beats

OH SHIT!!!! I JUST REMEMBERED THAT BIG BEAT AT THE END OF EBW8!!! WOAH!! NO WAY!

oh and sunshine underground, fuck

woweee.

kwiddle:

i feel real bad for not meeting up with you before hand, sorry, i am a shy guy. next time?!! i mean clearly chem fans are all wonderful people.

i hope you were not too offended by my lack of interest in a meet up...

i know you loved it though :) and thanks for saying hello and stuff at the end! how you recognised me, i cant comprehend.

and yes, where is consumer??

finally:

tom and ed: see you in sydney.

love hayden :)

That's a legend now baby! I may be across an ocean but I'm feeling the excitment (but that's also cause my best friend gets home after being away for 2 years in about 4 hours!) still.....

ooooooooo you guys! I'm so excited that you were excited! Can't wait til kwiddle gets her shit together and posts more thoughts and throws some pictures up.

Badgelot, what a gorgeous and glowing read - it's so amazing to see about how the music has affected you so. What you said about the visuals and being caught up in the moment where the past and future is irrelevant is so true... And the look on your face during that set must've been absolutely priceless. :D

(I think Das Spiegal must've been written with Tom's kiddies in mind, too. That song, along with Spring, is what joy sounds like)

Well...what can I say??????

THAT was quite honestly one of the best shows I have ever seen for many many reasons...I shall start my saga...are you sitting comfortably folks?

As you all know I flew into Syd at 9am this morning after a 4 hour flight. It wasnt bad, got some sleep etc. Got to hostel had a bad morning with the jetlag but by the arvo I was ready to get ready for tonight.

Bought meself some dancing strides, packed the shiny new super lovely digital camera and then headed off to meet the lovely lass who was going to get us in on her guest list.

Had a wee faff over that part but we managed to get in...and then this is where the fun starts...!!!

We realised we had been given...shock horror...SEATED TICKETS!!! Now THAT just wasnt going to to do now was it? SO yours truly...the master of blag it seems when the Chems are involved recently...it was very very quiet at the centre to begin in with...Muscles being the reason...wil get back to that in a sec!

I went and hung out at the main door trying to look out for Badge cos he never got in touch...(wont mention the word regret yet...;-) and said in a cheeky pleading kind of manner to the old lady giving out the floor wristbands...'now...here's my thoughts on this floor lark...ok so the centre has set a 2500 capacity on the floor, BUT there are at least 100 folk who wont be on the floor cos of touts and non attendees...and I flew in from the Uk this morning AND its my 30th next week...go on nice lady give us 2 passes...

haaahaaaa...result number 2!

THEN...bad moment...we saw Muscles! Eep! Music was good, cant deny that but can someone please take the mic from him. Calvin Harris/LCD you aint love! But, awwww the kids loved him...the older folk to the back all had very bemused looks in their eyes and we all smiled knowingly when we caught each others eyes...

Holroyd was v good throwing in some Plumps to the end...and then it was time.

Positioned myself in front of the sound desk, best spot in the house and was surrounded by likeminded uber Aussie fans including a guy from the UK who had seen them plenty of times before and at every Glasto. :-)

So to the show...the usual set:

Which as ever I cant quite remember fully as I am very tired now...but we did get Golden Path and a lovely Sunshine Underground for finishers.

Ok...so will just get to the point.

Regaled my tale about flying into Syd for the shows to one of the sound guys (Dave if anyone knows him :-), told him I was from the forum and he let me and my sis into the sound pit for the rest of the show!!!

WHAT a location...so much space. Guess who danced like a loon...teehee!

And as for the quality of the sound and light show...one of the best I have ever seen in the many times I have had the privelege.

My shiny new Olympus is a true bad boy and I got lots of shiny youtube friendly vids that I will one day figure out how to get online...Acid...Nude Night is for YOU!

I am gutted I didnt meet up with any of the Aussie Chems folk...the number was online if anyone neded to get in contact, its the same for FMF...which...fingers crossed...me and my sis may have guest list for.

Dave and Sean said we could have possibly gone backstage but we could see that striking everything was far more paramount as there is obviously another show in 20 hours or so...and they didnt reckon it will be anywhere near as good cos of the outdoor location, the windy weather/possible rain, resident proximity and more importantly, prize winning racehorses in a stable nearby!!! Eeep!

So here I am all spent, as high as a kite on jetlag and pure happy energy...missed you lot Jittem, Badge, kwiddle...if ya wanna meet tomorrow just drop my sis a text.

So its time for a well earned rest, ready to Do It Again tomorrow...see what I did there? ;-)

WHAT a way to start my new life in Sydney and an utterly fabulous early 30th birthday present! Thank you Tom and Ed for one of the most memorable nights of my life...it just went Top 3 and nearly booted Orbital at Maida Vale from Number 1! Ha.

Nighty night folk...still v jealous about Turnmills but hey, I think I've had a good expereince havent I?

Hey everyone!

Sorry about the late review on the Melbourne gig. (Hi Whirls!!) Been busy organising my weekend. gonna be a big one!!

I'm really having trouble though thinking how to write it... struggling.....

Anyway maybe I should start by explaining the company who joined me. First off I brought along my boy Tim who already seen the chems twice but that didn't stop him coming out for the third. We were also companied by he's brother Greg who also like me collects chemical merchandise and also Tims mate Kurt who has never been to a gig like this as he's been house bound to take care of he's brother. He isn't exactly a huge chem's fan although he loves live audio visual and surround sound. (in he's lounge along he has a 3 '3 meter screen and a huge LCD Data Projector.) So I though I'll convert him easily with what Tom n' Ed have to offer live.... and I did :P

Anyway we get to Vodafone arena at around 7.15. Most people were drinking at the bar then on the dance floor but I though I might head in anyway to get a good spot. I see a funny mix of crowd around me, some fluoro's of course, indie's and the hard house kids with their fatty pants. Wasn't surprised though. After the token local DJ act up comes Muscles.. and god its torture! EVERY FRIGGEN TRACK SOUNDED THE SAME!!! All he did was press a few keys on he's keyboard and belted out some god awful vocals. they were so damn catchy though they stayed in my head till I had to force myself to think of something else! MOVING ON.... when muscles finally shut up James Holroyd jumped on the decks and brought my faith back for the evening.... wow and it did get a little demented their for a while. What a wicked set. Have to catch him at future this Sunday again! Crowd got bigger during JH's set and I situated myself second from the front rails which was wicked! Patiently (after standing for two hours already) we waited for Tom n' Ed to unleash their glory !! Girls all around me were screaming for them as they were about to come out and my cheeky boyfriends brother started yelling back "Not yet... wait girls wait... keep your panties on" bah ha. Then finally we heard the No path to Follow intro and I knew it was about that time. Then finally their they were and the roof lifted... the started with an insane live version of Galvanize and it was fucken nuts!! Mental! Crazy! The beats were soo friggen loud!!! It only got better... Burst Generator next followed by do it again and then by the Crazy mental acid clown singing Get Yourself High. That was one of the highlights of the evening! Almost every single face that the clown did was different... some sneaky, some serious and others cheeky. WHAT A HEAD FUCK!! Hey Boy Hey Girl was mashed into Get Yourself High and it worked a bloody treat!! Other tracks came after such as All Rights Reversed, Out Of Control, Don't Fight It Feel It, and one of my favorites Temptation/ Star Guitar! WOW! I've waiting 3 years to hear that one live!! Surface to air came after the break and it was just beautiful the visuals were gorgeous especially the air dancing silhoettes... then one of my favorite visuals arrived as under the influence/ It Doesn't Matter came on... EVIL ROBOTS!!! FUCK YES!!! Although that didn't top saturate.... it was point of absolute maddness... I was wtched by my crazy air druming during the track and it was just amazing to watch the paint balls exploding on the screen.

I looked around me and I could see Krut was enjoying himself from the glint in he's eye!! hehe. As was my boys brother who was going off like a frog in the sock behind me. Some girls around he were a little freaked out but he didn't give a shit. Nude Night came on and he went nuts!

Chemical beats was also just mental. loved how the clown returned with the Acid Children sample!! Rocked it!! I was at one point jumping up and down like a mad woman and thus sanding on poor others feet. I felt bad but I knew they would get over it! :P

Ed walks around the stage in some sort of awe... It was awesome when he decided to stand in the middle of the lasers. Tom kept getting the corwd pumped and it worked!

Encore was brillent. Leave Home, Block rocking Beats, Das Spiegel and The sunshine undergroud. At one point the whole arena was srrouneded with lasers and it looked damn pretty from the front. This might sound really fucking lame but I got actually really emotional during TSU I was intoxictated without comsuming anything. Get it together woman!! The end was septacluar with tom ripping the shit out of one of the synths creating some demented sounds!! WOW FUCKING INSANCE!

I was shaking too mush to talk after it all finished but I thought I'll go say hello to Sir badge. I knew it was you. Who else who be front row and not more the entire night :) I don't mind that you didn't meet up. Its all good. I had an amzing time and I couldn't be upset!

Only down pionts!

- The girls next to me who only came for one reason.. samlon dance. they mentioned it during the evening and I told them it was highly unlikely and they had a little winge when the gig finished. Morons!

- Me deciding to wear new shoes thus resulting in blisters. Ouch.

- Fluoro fuckers on E. GO AWAY YOU POSERS!!!

- And of course muscles.... terrible just terrible.

I'm happy that Tom and Ed are enjoying oz and the food. We do have some of the best resturants and cafes in melbs.. flower drum anyone?? And if you saw a really tall guy you thought must have been sitting on a box during the gig well he was actaully 7 foot tall eep!!

Fuck that was long sorry I'm off to bed!

its a little early but thanks anyway

i was at the syd show tonight, and it was phenominal.. obviously. awesome reviews lucy and kwiddle.

lucy: perhaps i will see you tomorrow?

cool things about tonight compared with wednesday:

ed playing some synth in das speigel which i don't think he did in melb

Tom didn't drop the octave kitten after fucking with it at the end, unlike in melb when it sort of dropped onto its side and i hurt a little inside

tom pointed to my mate marcus who is seeing all these shows with me and recognised him (i recently shaved him a mohawk, so he is very recognizable) and mouthed: "YOU AGAIN?!!"

blockrocking beats and chemical beats where so much rougher and at times i felt like i was at a rock concert, they were much phatter tonight than in melb, prob mainly down to the crowd... who well, lets just say i tihnk i like melbournians better than sydney siders. ;)

can't wait for tomorrow!

now for more bed...

hmmm well everyone summed up the night pretty well.. seems melbourne had same set as sydney.

Can i jus say that last night was life changing for me. my friends, my brothers and i were situated right near the front in the middle.

Made lots of friend...(ofcourse, they were all on pingers LOL)

But holy shit as soon as the first beat in galvanize begun the crowd went nuts...never been at a gig b4 where the crowd is so loud except for RAGE at Big Day Out.

All the songs were fantastic, such smooth transitions between songs like saturate and believe...my god the cathedral in believe was mind blowing.

Sucks i didn't get to meet up with any of you guys... sorry lucy i didnt get to meet up with ya, i was with a whole bunch of friends XD

I'd been waiting for Block Rockin' Beats for about 3 years now and i finally got to see it!!! it was great and the crowd loved it...tom and ed sure know how to get the crowd going.

anyway after the mindblowing gig we went to paddy Mcguires just up the road to have some nice quiet underage drinking ;) a few others things happened to continue on the night until the wee hours of the morning when i slipped into bed feeling absolutely content.

THANK YOU ED and TOM

Btw everyone else that is seeing them at FMF tonight, enjoy you lucky bastards :P

by the way everyone...

NUDE NIGHT FUCKING ROCKED!!!!. it was such an awesome song and perfect timing suring the set. It had good visuals and lasers, however when they just turned all the lights off and had everyone dancing in the dark it was amazing.

as it was a hazy night, i can't remember everything.. what i would like to know is the song that was played which had the visuals of blue numbers or something similar to that description..:D
