There's a lot of crap minimal out there, as it's the genre du jour, but really, the better stuff just sends tingles down the spine. It might not be fist-pumping, anthemic house, but it can keep my attention on the dancefloor quite well when the right tunes are being played by the right DJ. Especially if he uses it to intro for 30-45 minutes before busting out the big guns (cf. Josh Wink's recent sets).

The Roots - 100% Dundee
Things Fall Apart really is a fantastic album. It's a little low-fi compared to Phrenology, but both Malik and Thought are on form here, and 'You Got Me' feat. Erykah Badu and Eve is probably their best song.
Lyrically, the album struggles at times because they spend too much time repping the 5th Dynasty, the P-5-D, but it's rap, what else do you expect? Thought's flows rip hard and fast, the way I like it.

Tool - Eulogy
Aenima as an album gets better with age. Still one of the most forward-thinking metal albums of all time. This rant, reportedly directed at L. Ron Hubbard, is a scathing pull-down of any would-be Messiah.
The album is technically brilliant, well-produced, quirky and off-beat, with progressive lyrics and strong metaphors. No other band makes 8 minute progressive metal tracks like they do. And the swinging, whirling time signatures make me sway hypnotically. Impossible not to move.
Wicked live act as well. Nearly on a par with the Chems live. Difference for me was setting and drugs.
See you down in Arizona Bay.
