huh! there was an article on glasto to be found in the frankfurter allgemeine zeitung, a quite conservative german newspaper (very big one), yesterday, in the "economy" section.

so, they named this year's headliners: u2, bb king, coldplay, beyoncé and morrissey (at least him). alright, I thought, they're ignorant. but then they have gone on a historical tour, naming some of the most remarkable gigs: t-rex in 1970, new order 1981, happy monday 1990 and fuck yeah, bowie and the chemical brothers in 2000!

can't believe it. a big german conservative newspaper which has hardly ever before mentioned the chemical brothers (if ever) lists them amongst the best glasto gigs ever. wow.
love is all.

Just watched the 30 min video - awesome. Some great new visuals and I loved the transition from Swoon into Star Guitar. Good work by the BBC!

The BBCi player is known to be very unstable through proxy servers if you're outside the UK.

I watched the 30 mins the BBC showed last night, looked mega. The Chems always look like they go that extra mile for the Glasto shows, they always look that bit more impressive. They showed Horse Power (still not my favourite Further track, looked fun though and the live version is much better) Chemical Beats, Swoon, Star Guitar, HBHG, Don't Think.

At one point I seem to remember it looked like a camera man was annoying Tom.

They cut just at the ladder climbing intro sequence to Out of Control. Apparently because of tight resources the BBC are limiting most of the big bands to 30 mins each so I guess that means no more footage was shot. Would have loved to see Escape Velocity as well as other tracks.

Did anyone catch Primal Scream on Friday night? You watch Bobbie Gillespie and think - that is a rock 'n' roll star. Then you tune over to watch U2 and see Bono and think - that most definitely is not.

ps. Just watched it again. Its a shame the BBC seem to always feel the need to overlay the concert visuals with the actual live footage. It just ends up detracting from both.

To everyone outside of the UK who want to watch the 30 minute video, (for Mozilla Firefox) go to Tools/Options/Advanced/Network Tab, click Settings and use this proxy:

Watching the video right now.

bobbie is just amazing. cannot believe that he indeed is in his 50s! bono is just a wimp. unfortunately, people seem to like him more rather than bobbie. a shame!

Try installing the FoxyProxy add-on for Mozilla, worked perfectly for me.

If you installed it on Mozilla, under Tools, you'll have a FoxyProxy Standard, click Options.

Click Add New Proxy, and add the information for the proxy: IP and port separately.
Click Ok.
Then, again under Tools, find FoxyProxy, but this time click "Use proxy "bla.bla.bla" for all URL's"

they haven't but it is part of the encore and they don't get to play the encore at festivals due to time limitations. they still play the reel at "regular" gigs.

and it is massive.

That depends, I've seen them play it multiple times at festivals over the years, including Glastonbury.

What did they finish on last night? They presumably did some sort of encore.

edit. Ahh, just read it was BRB.

yeah, but we talk about the current tour. since january, the reel made most of the encore and at festival gigs it was likely not to be played when their was not enough time for the encore. it might have been different in earlier years but that's what it is like in 2011.
