Ok, i know this hasnt got all that much to do with the chems but its an issue that concerns clubbers. Should they or should they not bann it in public places?

After a good night out theres nothing worse that coming home and stinking of fags, should this be accepted as the norm if you are going out or is it unfair that non smokers should have to put up with this. Another thing thats horrible is when smokers dnt consider that the end of there fag is on fire and it does hurt when they brush past you and catch you with it.

Ok so everyone has the right to smoke if want to and a full out ban on smoking in all public places does seem a little harsh. But should they do it or not?

But i spose smoking does have some minor benifits such as boasting the ecconomy.

Personally i think ban in public places, it cause its bad for everyones health and is unsociable.

as a smoker i say they should ban smoking in public areas!! what the score in england?? they are trying to have a complete ban in the work place and complete bans in resurants and pub that serve food. is that it??

your so right about coming home from an evening wreaking of smoke. when we went to new york we went clubing quite a few nights and one of the things we really notice was at the end of a night we didn't stink like an ashtray.

anyway last year i gave up smoking for 6 months and then it all went wrong. so this year i tried again and managed for 4 days. didn't have the right mental attitude this time round. it would help if a ban came in. smoking is bread from a social thing. take away the ability to smoke socially on a night out and its gonna help people to quit.

hasn't the ban in ireland been very successful with sales of cigarettes falling considerably?? i dont think there is any positive benift in smoking. i think the companies who make fags are unethical. they are targeting aisan countries now with very high nicotine very addictive cigaretts to keep making their profits.

the atmosphere in clubs kinda got better but once the smell of cigs disapearred the b.o smell problem is far worse as a result. cigs sales went down a bit but not significantly. though it was a shock in sankeys seing people smoke in a club. better having the ban

Have to say AcidChildren, you really opened my eyes with this! Its really annoying when you come home from the pub / club and your fave clothes stink of smoke! I personally don't have a problem with smokers, it is their choice and theres not much point in telling them its unhealthy cos they already know! However, I admire people who try to give up, it must be really hard so all the best sneakerbeater, if you carry on thinking positively I'm sure you'll get there.

smoking can be used as a good thing! i was at the fatboy slim concert in chicago and we were in this tiny club, and this fag was in front of me and my friend, invading our space HARDCORE, so i burned him in the arm with my ciggy on purpose...people definitely should be considerate...if there wasnt smoking allowed in a club, id be cool with it...i can put my habits aside for music ANY day

In California, smoking is banned in ALL indoor places including restaurants, bars, clubs, shopping plazas. It's been this way for a while.

As a smoker (and someone who's gotten on and fallen off the quitter's bandwagon a few times) it was very very hard to get used to at first. But I think in the long run it can be a positive thing especially in places like restaurants. People don't really need to inhale other peoples' smoke when they're eating. And kids don't need to breathe that shit in either.

A lot of people smoke casually and in social settings - so where do you go to get social? Pubs, clubs and the like. I know it sounds terrible, but I love to have a smoke with a drink, the two have always gone hand in hand for me. Smoking is a solitary as well as social thing for me, as terrible a habit it is. In California we are fortunate that the weather here is very nice to accomodate smokers who have to use outdoor patios if they want to enjoy a cigarette.

I do admit it's nice to go to a club and not have to worry about some inconsiderate fucktard lighting your clothes on fire, and it's nice to keep the smokers out in the open air, but I really do think as far as smoking in public establishments like bars, restaurants and clubs goes it should've been left up to the discretion of private enterprises. Smoking and non-smoking sections help too.

IMHO, If you don't like cigarettes, you shouldn't be out at a club. Clubs are there for ear damaging music, drinks, sex with strangers & drugs so if you're so concerned about your health, you shouldn't be there in the first place, right?

some people go for the music and the atmosphere, so why should those have to put up with the negative stuff that the minority are doing?

because cigarette smoke is, IMO, an intergral part of the atmosphere. Literally and figuratively.

How old are you son? it's obvious you don't have a care for your personal health, if this is the case you arn't going to give a shit about other peoples, strangers.

Don't you think smoking is a dirty, filthy habit? I can smell you dirty breath from here, the keys from which you typed coated with the yellow scum that comes from that cancer stick you place in your mouth daily.

Im gona bring this thread back to something chemical brothers related. I think everytime ive been to see the Brothers, ive felt like a sardine, however it is expected.

As there isnt enough room to get my boogie on, i will nod my head, light up and enjoy the filth that they through out of the soundsystem. Saying that i am conscious about where my cigarette is pointed, even smokers dont like being burnt.

if a ban was introduced i dont think it wud bother me, i'd probably just drink more (something to do with my hands!me finks)

Hi Iguanapunk.

You obviously have no idea who I am, so I'm going to be really, really nice and not get into a FLAEM WAR with you.

But I am 31, and no, I'm not particularly afraid of cancer, etc... By the time I have to worry about such things I'll either buy a pair of vat grown lungs or the cybernetic equivalent. I'm counting on science keeping ahead of whatever abuse I can give myself.

Besides, everyone has to die of something, don't they? Apologies to Dennis Leary, but they say smoking takes 10 years off your life, right? Who cares? It's the worst 10 years, the ones at the end, the crapping your pants in some filthy nursing home where your ungrateful children stuck you. Frankly, I don't care to live when I'm too old to get it up without the help of viagra.

Oh. my. god. X-D

It's my husband's calling in life. If he could make a career out of embarassing me, we'd both be retired and living comfortably on our own tropical island right about now.

Your arguement sounds alot like my roomates. And the whole deal about smoking taking 10 years off your life and those last ten yeras of your life being the shitties? well smoking doesnt change that. It just makes those 10 years come alot sooner

Think of it this way.... say you were at a reggae show, or a hip hop show or a D&B club, and there were a buncha people passing around spliffs.... now, would you get all pissed off and call the cops on em, or would you say, hey, I'm at a reggae show, it's part of the scene, and just chill about it?

Why should you act differently about cigarettes?

i don't smoke drink or do drugs but i still have the best time ever when at a chemical brothers gig. i can't stand smoking in pubs for the reason that it makes my eyes sting like fuck, i get a soare throat and for some reason it makes my lips dry. your right people do need some place social to smoke. what clubs need are extractor fans that actually work properly, then i probally wouldn't have a problem with it. smoking should be banned on the dance floor though, then again so should drinking. you stand still on a dance floor for more than 10 seconds and your feet are stuck to the floor. having to tread on plastic cups and broken glass is a bit disconcerting. well thats about all i've got to say for the mo...
Even a stopped clock gives the right time twice a day
