Ha! Nice.

I got to strut today after attending an honorary breakfast for all of the people on the dean's list. 8-)

Going to see Daniel Tosh this weekend.

@Whirls: Poor baby. :-( I actually have stopped smoking, apparently. I don't really have the urge to do it anymore. We'll see how long that lasts.

January 2011 has been rough on my family, too.

The Arizona shootings really upset me and my fiance on many levels. Then the snow started. I got the flu. More snow. Fiance got the flu. Ice storm and sleet, then snow on top. Toddler got that flu, I still have it. Big snow storm. My flu remains after three weeks and starts getting bad again, need strong meds from doctor. More snow coming in the forecast. Twice.

Nothing says winter in the northeast like shoveling twice a week while you're really sick! Funny, I think I bitched about this same thing last year.

For what it's worth I've been feeling better the last couple days since the Dr. presrcibed some meds (on my SECOND visit and after missing work a few days). I never had codeine before; it's in my cough medicine. Holy shit, it put me out and helped me sleep. I woke up from a two day haze and Egypt was on fire. It really is a scary situation over there...
Gonna work it out...

Good God, it sounds like you and your family are getting pummeled with the flu the same way the Northeast gets pummeled with so much snow! Codeine is a godsend when you're sleep deprived and just weak in general from being ill (but having trouble sleeping). I hope you feel better soon!!

I swear it seems the older I get, the less and less I tend to enjoy the winter months. Before I seemed to relish the cold months and shorter days. Granted I live in Southern California and we don't have harsh winter's address. But now... I don't know- perhaps I've got a touch of seasonal depression that's finally coming to surface as I get older. The good thing is when the seasons start to turn from winter to spring, the mood and environment seems to turn as well.

Well, over here in the "northwest" we're getting pretty burnt out of all this snow. Yesterday we got more snow than we usually get all year and more is coming on Wednesday! My school has seven snow days built into the schedule and we're in danger of running out of them!

As for me, my excitement for Coachella kind of took a backseat due to my job. I have been given the crappy task of overseeing some audits and inventory for a month....and it's not pretty.

Meanwhile, weather here is a little cold and a little warm. It's still too early to get to the 90 degree weather.

I also realized that i'm losing my hair (from the head of course) It's starting to 8 ball! WHY SO EARLY LORD!

For once, a legitimate reason to go on Facebook. :)
In all seriousness, though, it kind of amazes me. A government is in the process of being overthrown by a group of idealistic youths and they're using soial networking to do it.
If only those idealistic youths could be better than the people they're overthrowing... We can hope, right?

The thing is the power in place in those countries (Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt) is here by force. Egyptian saw that this power can be otherthrown, after it happened in Tunisia. I'm not fully aware of what their government is like, but a government that does what they say can't be a good one...

HA HA!

Ticketmaster and its parent Live Nation Entertainment have agreed to settle a class action lawsuit over ticketing service fees, according to an SEC filing by the company. The suit was filed in California Superior Court in Los Angeles in October 2003 by consumers Curt Schlesinger and Peter Lo Re, and was broadened to a class action by the court late last year, giving plaintiff status to anyone who purchased ducats through Ticketmaster from October 1999-May 2010.

The action alleged that Ticketmaster's order processing fee was a "profit component" unrelated to the firm's actual business costs, and that its UPS delivery option represented an artificial mark-up of pass-along costs. The case was set for a bench trial slated to begin Jan. 26.

In Live Nation's 8-K form, filed Dec. 20 and posted Jan. 26, the firm said it agreed to "pay the fees of the claims administrator as well as the plaintiffs' attorneys fees and certain costs that are approved by the Court and subject to a set maximum, and class members who meet certain conditions will be entitled to receive from Ticketmaster a cash payment and/or discounts off one or more future ticket purchases."

The company said it had "not acknowledged any violations of law or liability in connection with the matter, but have agreed to the settlement in order to eliminate the uncertainties and expense of further protracted litigation."

Ticketmaster's high service fees, tacked onto the base price of a ticket, have long been a source of complaint among consumers, and were scrutinized in congressional hearings leading up to finalization of the Live Nation-Ticketmaster merger in January 2010.

This is going to be as good as when I got $13 back from the record industry class action suit for unreasonable prices-the classic $18.99 price CDs were.

I am happy to pay a certain price for a quality product. buying vinyl only, however.

I cannot see why downloads only with a printable artwork or shit (which can be found on the internet anyway) cost exactly the same (or sometimes even more) than a CD in a record store.
love is all.

Dude--that doesn't sound fun. Poor man.

Message me on teh Facebookz again and we'll chat about Coachella lodgings. w0rd.

In other news, I'm in Contracts class right now. We're studying about Duress and Undue Influence. It's pretty interesting, actually--it's all about people taking advantage of others when the others are in shitty situations.

For example, Duress: you hold someone at gunpoint and tell them to agree to sell you their house for ten thousand dollars. Unless you live in the middle of nowhere in South Dakota in a one room house, this isn't fair market value. You will likely have a successful cause of action for a voidable contract under duress.

Undue influence: a pregnant wife's husband is shot to death. Two days after his funeral, she is approached by her family in-law and persuaded to sign over to them most of the finances from his will.

People fucking each other over. Mmmmboy!

(I think)I'm somewhat familiar on Duress.....The victim would have a hard time proving in court that they were forced + finding witnesses.

To protect yourself from these type of contacts, don't you have to write something down right next to your signature to make the contract null and void? (I could be wrong)
