[It was a complete pain in the ass getting them just right, you had to pause the record at just the right time or you'd wind up with an annoying bit of another song on there. Then you'd have to go back and try to erase that 1 or 2 second blip, then align the cassette just so and try again. But there was so much effort and thought involved. The reward was trading them with friends or family or having a really cool mix to put in your walkman or car.

Ah. Youth.

haha! thats where mchebne got the name pausebuttonaudio from, when he was younger he'd make mix tapes using cassette and hit the pausebutton - hence pausebuttonaudio :D

Cool! I didn't think to make the connection, but it does make perfect sense. Right on, trivia!!

Workers Test Positive

Updated: 16:46, Thursday December 07, 2006

Seven workers at the Millennium Hotel have tested positive for low levels of radiation.

The Hotel was one of the places visited by former Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko, who was killed by radiation poisoning.

The seven involved worked at the hotel's bar, but the Health Protection Agency said there was no short-term risk to their health.

However, it warned that they have a slightly increased risk of developing cancer.

I had no idea I'd missed this much material from my Mechanisms of Microbial Disease class. Almost everything I'm reading is brand new to me. Exam in about 15 hours. Oops.

I am sitting at an A in the class and only need around 42% to pass the course, but I am kicking myself at probably blowing a potential GPA-booster. God knows I could use one or two of those. Instead I wasted most of my day on the computer and watching footie highlights.

I did visit with my grandparents though, which I don't do nearly enough. Unfortunately, I was reminded of why I generally avoid spending a lot of time with them. They are possibly the nicest people ever, but I feel a VERY acute generation gap. And an urban-rural gap. And a sense that they just don't understand the stresses of trying to work a near full-time job while taking a more-than-full course load of university (+ extra-curricular activities). I don't think they understand school at all actually. I don't think they understand me at all or grasp that they don't. I suppose I don't understand farming or dancing polkas either, so the misunderstanding isn't entirely unidirectional, but...

well now that i think about it, i did ask Erol if something about EBW 8 and possible future remixes of chemical tracks on his forum along time ago. maybe consumer came across it :??

_______

on another note........won a HUGE game in my Fantasy Football (american football) league today. Im in the playoffs and todays game was crutial because i can now win money for my efforts (top 4 teams win $). It was a close one with my opponent, we continually changed leads about 5 times during the day. Lucky me, i have the best player in the NFL right now, LaDanian Tomlinson, bailed me out today with 28 points (alot) and broke the record for touchdowns in a season (29). Its down to 4 teams now, and if I win first, i get $800. 8)

That's awesome dude. I finished third in my hockey pool last year, which only won me free entry into the playoff pool (which I bombed in), but two years prior I won the season and the playoffs. Pissed everyone off.

I'm broke enough I might try gambling to raise some funds.

yeah, i remember you mentioning that before.

I really wish I could get into Hockey more. Sucky thing is, the owner of my home town team (Chicago Blackhawks), dont help the matter. He refuses to let blackhawk home games to be viewed via cable. So either you have to buy the hockey package through paperview to watch all the games or buy over priced tickets to see them play home games. It would help if they were good too (its been about 7-8 years. )

Yeah, Bill Wirtz has to be up there with the worst owners in professional sports. Absolutely dismal. My sympathies for you, but at least you still have an NHL team.
