Damn, I missed you guys! My recent absence was caused by the horrid semester I had, thanks to a teachers strike that happened about 1 year ago... Add that to the fact of being almost destroyed by some mechanisms of Advanced Organic Chemistry, despite actually liking the subject. Almost on my 2 weeks break to start all over again afterwards.

Exactly, there were days that I actually thought: "Man, I should have chosen something less trouble to do than study to become a pharmacyst!". But my friends are helping me through this rough phase. And Darkstar, at least,we like what we study, and in the end, that's what really matters. I'll give my best to study gradually over the couser of the next semester, and then I'll be able to do everything I like, including to post here everyday. Alas, there's nothing better than drinking my coffee in my red Nescaf mug (although I don't like that brand) and reading our good old threads, before going to class :D

i avoiding her like the plague
It's good you're going with your gut. If it initially weirds you out then you have to go with your instinct. It's such an unnerving situation - I hope you don't run into her again. That's really freaky!

So Im playing a DJ set (DJ battle) on my campus (In the midle of the fucking CAMPUS!!) this friday, I'm getting very nervous, too much people :-| ,all DJs here only play trance so thats pretty much what people knows here as electronic music and probably is what all the other 3 DJs are going to play, Im not sure if people would like my combo of breaks, electro and acid.
I decided to open with EBW8 . 8)
TOO NERVOUS ARGH!!! :-D

Aww, that's great mX!! You'll do well, I'm sure. It'll be cool to set yourself apart from what everyone else is playing.
Good choice on the opening track. ;) Any chance you are going to record it?

I definetly think you'll be fine, MX. Playing something different will either get you ignored by the crowd or really, really win them over. It's a bit of a gamble, but you've got to play what excites you and have faith that they'll recognize proper tunes when they hear them.
EBW 8 is a great tune to start with, as it's very distinct and euphoric. Normally I would want a DJ to play it as the peak of his set, I would think, but I'm assuming since it's a battle the sets are pretty short and you want to capture their attention right away.

I was thinking the same it all depends of the time they give us
If they give me more than 1 hour Im gonna start with 9.
(I will try to record it somehow)

I dunno, I don't know exactly what you plan on playing, but I'd consider starting with 8 even if you have a longer set. If the crowd is mostly familiar with trance, 8 has more of a trance sensibilities of builds and breakdowns, uplifting melody, etc.
I'd save 9 for when you have them in your grasp already and have taken the set darker and harder.
And then melt their faces off with the Evil Battle Weapon 9!!!! }:-)
(Of course, I've never DJed in my life, so take what I suggest with a grain of salt...)
