I don't think it's a sample - it's Ali's voice.

This question's been haunting me since I got the Jap version where the lyrics were changed, and then the promos I received also have the the turn electric lyrics. Only the Tong show version we heard earlier was funk electric - i wonder why that wasn't released and changed.

So anyone heard the alternate actual end of Burst Generator? It's got a proper different 30 sec end on the vinyl instead of that abrupt mix with Modern Midnight Conversation (like on cd).

I'm quite curious to how this sounds. I really can't imagine how it sounds from your description... I hope they release this as a single or some other digital release with the unmixed ending.

I'm really enjoying the album.

It's weird that "Do It Again" is the single though..it's one of my least favorite tracks on the album. I absolutely LOVE "The Pills Won't Help You Now". "The Salmon Dance" is humuorous, but forgettable. "Battle Scars" is OK.

One thing that bothers me though is "Burst Generator", which I think is very good..but could have been great. The problem is with the drums..I think they are weak sounding, especiallt the snare rolls. I think the song sounds a bit unfinished. Could have been up there with TPPR...oh well.

Don't hold it against me.

COME TO MINNEAPOLIS GUYS!!

Hey chemicalburn, are you still stuck with the mp3's? If so, when you get the real deal you may be pleasantly surprised (like I was!!) There are a lot of things that weren't as pronounced or outwardly evident in the mp3's as they are on the cd. To me, what I was missing out on became significant and ever-so-apparent once I got this album on cd.

But all's well either way - glad you're enjoying the album! :)

After listening a LOT of more times now I have become a sucker for TPWHYN aswell. I'm still very much in love with Burst Generator and Harpoons. And I'm still a bit dissapointed with the edited version of EBW 8 for Saturate. And I agree with Antype. Previous albums have a nice flow while this feels like a bumpy ride. Reminds of traveling by bus in Scotland. Beautifull scenery on very up and down roads. It's the same with the live show I think, its "YEAH BELIEVE!!!" and "aaah Saturate"

Still very good tunes. Tom and Ed are getting a bit older I guess.

Ass for WATN b-sides/bonus tracks. I haven't heard Clip Kiss yet so can't say a thing about that one. I really like No Need, I'm not sure about Seal. Seal sounded a bit Kraftwerky to me while No Need is very Giogio Moroder (which I love).

And what'up with all that Japanese version buyers? Is it so special? Isn't it very expensive? ah well....

I bought the Japanese version as a little treat for myself since a.) it's the Chems!! and b.) it's been a long time since I've purchased a Japanese import and c.) because I couldn't wait for the US release. :D

i'm the only one who prolly doesn't find burst generator as good as it's getting hyped around here. don't get me wrong, but like someone pointed it out - it could have been much bigger - it's something they've done before many times and much acer.

i still find the first part of the album much fresher.

and joslyn -saturate in the live set? for god's sake it's one of the best moments on the only bootleg from the munich show i heard till now - the messy mixing into believe and that BEAUTIFUL part about 1hr 1min into the set - it just drives me nuts it's so fantastic!

nnd it's funny, but now I find Do It Again awwesome!! it's a great banging tune - very very well produced and fits beautifully on the album - all rights reversed is something i've still not got slighlty sick of. and yes, i like the pills much more now on the lp and cd version - same with harpoons. i just wish they did those ROCKIN drums and tones on Das Spiegel which they used to bring in the track on the munich set - that intro to das spiegel is so fuckin ace!

oops I think I gave the wrong impression.

Saturate is amazing live, ecspecially the visuals. What I meant was that the liveshow is banging and euphoric, up and down. It's like "yeah let's dance our asses of" and the next tune is "aah let's watch these amazing visuals".

Don't get me wrong, it's a smashing live show, probably the best tour, and PTB tour was great.

But I agree with AnType. The coherence (is that a word? sounds good in my head) of the album and the live show is a bit off. But it's like Whirly said, they are reinventing the wheel, trying something different. I had the same feeling when I heard EBW 8 for the first time. It's a weird track. That euphoric drum break doesn't really fit with the rest but as a track it sounds great.

Jack, on the 3x 12" is Saturate on there or is it EBW 8? I'm hoping to get my hands on one soon.

the thundering drum break in EBW8 fits better than anything else on the album imo....

the track couldn't work without it.

people often try to play by the rules when they produce and I like that the chems don't

A Modern Midnight Conversation was the only song that had to grow on me. I liked it, not heaps - I dug it, but out of We Are The Night I have to say it was ('was' being the operative word) my least favorite if I had to pick one. But the Chemical Brothers are so good at making me eat my words and give things another chance, and things have changed. :) Now I think it's a beautiful piece of art, it is so well made. The way the song pans from side to side is almost dizzying, and those crystalline shards of sound that rupture through the song toward the end are out of this world.

i totally agree - very well done track, except for those vocals.

joslyn - the 3x version has the cd version saturate - the only difference I've found so far is the unmixed burst generator. ebw8's available only on 8/9 vinyl.

i think the live show rocks - from whtever i've heard from the munich bootleg - just a bit of finetuning - i know galvanise is a BIG song for the chems now with all the new fans, but I hope they change the set starter to something bigger.

also the length needs to be longer.

i don't like das spiegel much on the album, but I LOVE the way they bring it in with those killer tones and drums on the munich set. and i love the way saturate's mixed into believe.

I just got around listening to the Munich set this evening while driving home from my parents'. It does need a bit of fine tuning (for instance, the Saturate-to-Believe transition), then again it is a bootleg so we're not getting the full effect of what everything sounds like if we were there to experience it in person.

Das Spiegal - I really dig that tune, a lot. It's hard not to feel happy when listening to it. I absolutely adored what I heard from the Munich set. I lovd the long intro, the building of layers, and the melodica. It has the rosy and sunny vibe yet it sounds so full and enormous live - the sunny joyful feel of Das Spiegal leading into Sunshine Underground I felt was very appropriate. (Hmmm. remember how a lot of us got those rosy, early morning light visuals when we heard Das Spiegal on that radio show a couple months back?)

My only problem with the live set right now is when they play All Rights Reserved. The way it's played, what with the vocals, reminds me too much of Out of Control WHICH IS ALSO IN THE SET.

I dunno, too much of a good thing for me.

Those reversed vocals on the All Rights Reversed live was a bit freaky/evilish ahha...I love it, but I think a lot of ppl would trip out haha...
