An interview with Simon Raymonde, owner of the Bella Union label, which I Break Horses is signed to.

Not just one but three tracks mixed by the Chems! He also gave some release info:

This interview was published on Jan 8, so by now at least 2 of those vinyls should be out. ATM I haven't found any information on these vinyls, still searching.

A formal single is out this spring in the UK, no clue what it's going to be:

I started looking at the Bella Union records label, source Discogs. If you see the artist which are released by Bella Union there are a lot of familair names. Midlake, who collaborated on The Pills won't help you now, Trespassers William, singer Anna Lynne Williams collaborated on Hold Tight London, Stephanie Dose, who collaborated on Further, and now Tom and Ed are mixing 3 tracks for I Break Horses.
The label was launched by 2 ex Cocteau Twins memebers. Somewhere in my memory I think I remember this being one of Tom and Eds favourite bands.

Is there a connection there? Have the brothers left there multiple UK collaborators, Charlatans, Primal Scream, Beth Orton, Manic Street Preachers, behind? Have they chosen for American Indie folk music?

Well, considering how far back this stuff goes - remember Asleep From Day? - I'd say it's just an extension of something they were already involved in. Besides, the tracks you named are some of their best!

Hope Sandoval was on a major label, but a quick search now shows she is on Nettwork Records - according to her myspace page.

Ed likes Cocteau Twins, he mentioned Heaven or las Vegas in an interview as one of his favorites albums (which is a great album and worthy of your listening pleasure - very lush and intricate melodies woven in reverent, dreamlike atmospheres)

Now that you mention it, I remember the Chems mentioning in an interview during the Push The Button era, when talking about Anna Lynn saying Tresspassers William were on the label the Cocteau Twins created.

Anyway. Cocteau Twins were on a label called 4ad, the quintessential indie label from way back when. That I Break Horses is on the Cocteau's Bella Union label is so fitting... When I hear I Break Horses, I am totally reminded of the Cocteau Twins - I'm so looking forward to the debut!

Well they said they were happy and looking forward to work with Beth again if it was going to happen. So don't think they have left their UK roots behind.
love is all.
