C'mon already, you still haven't figured out what are we actually discussing about? Not that this is a real discussion.
We're discussing the set list, not the visuals, the showmanship, the effects or any other aspect of a gig. ONLY the set list.

I'm making the point that a live show is more than just a setlist and you should not judge a show by videos/reviews you read online.

New Setlist, a totally epic one!!!!!

To me the recent setlist is an epic one, the new album is epic, I hope they continue to play much of Further seeing as it is the current album, aswell as includeing some classics and rare stuff.

Whatever reason they changed the setlist, I hope it wasn't because of all the whinging in here, that would be sad. They wanted to head on a different tangent with this album ... why stop them?
Further Remixed There's nothing else...

Although it is very clear that the Chems read the opinions here very closely and take them to heart (such as judging shows before they ever happened), and I truly believe the Chems want to give their fans what they want - I don't think things changed solely because of the whining in this thread. Because things don't happen overnight, I feel that before this thread was even started, what's done was done. The rehearsals were in the works and planning set lists post-Roundhouse were done. I bet there will continue to be changes to their sets as time goes on.

They probably had this curren setlist figure out long before people started complaining about the first one. It probably takes a long time when you consider the fact that new visuals were added, the lighting, and such meaning they could not make significant changes to the set, just my theory...

I'm pretty sure they already wanted to do a proper setlist but I wonder why Tom said in an interview that they had planned to tour with the "Further then old track" setlist in 2010.

Hmmm maybe they didn't want to give too much info away on what their upcoming sets would be like. Or maybe it's all to just keep us on our toes - nothing like a good bit of controversy to spice up the ol forum. ;-) I'm super glad things have gone well these past couple of shows. Fans are happy and going by the twitter updates, the Chems have enjoyed the shows as well.

they probably didn't have enough time to get the new list ready after the first set of shows in time for sonar, or they just wanted the make sure the awesomeness of the first set was experienced by many, nonetheless, it looks like an insanely good group of songs.

If I recall correctly, they never actually said they'd continue it for the rest of 2010. It was more along the lines of "we want to tour the album, but we know people will get tired of that soon, so we'll be switching over to a regular setlist eventually".

Let me just say that I was never worried for fans like myself. I'd love any kind of set, as I have yet to hear a lousy Chems track. And especially if I could see them more often than I can now due to geograhical challenges, I wouldn't even expect to hear certain tracks every time. But now as it is such a rare treat for me, in addition to all the fresh and interesting stuff, there are some old gems from the Chems that would totally make my day.

I just found about the new setlist and if the list I saw was anywhere near accurate, I am very pleased with it. It is guaranteed to get all those more "casual" listeners jumping with me right from the beginning as well. It is going to be a fantastic mix.

Also overwhelmingly happy to see that we might get to hear Block Rockin' Beats after all. We all have our personal "defining" tunes, and for some reason BRB is that for me. Along with Chemical Beats of course, just can't praise that enough. ;)

See you soon!

I think they should try to play Horse Power as an opener. I'm sure it can be a great opener (I imagine the whole crowd going crazy with the build up at the beginning).
And Escape Velocity for the epic closer of course !

Luckily great Chemical Brothers build ups are something that there is no shortage of. Horse Power is, as the title suggest, such a powerful track that I think it's a good idea to have it a bit later.

Biting the hand that feeds....Thats all Im saying in this conversation...
Come out from the cold and into the setting sun. It's where it all began for me (not in Afrika), like it was out of control. Then after that life was sweet. So dream on into the pioneer skies of the fourteenth century and rise from the sunshine underground.
