At the end of the day, you get out of a gig what you put into it. I went to the dublin gig ready for a good night, and enjoyed every minute of it (apart from the sound). If you do anything with a preconceived negative notion of what its gonna be about, you aint gonna enjoy it one way or the other.

And as for all this talk of scumbags - well I reckon the chems music is a great leveller. Noone was a scummer, a chav, a trendy or anything else in my eyes. Noone was looking for trouble - everyone was just there to rock. If you dont like their clothes or attitude, then thats your own buzz.

Love is all.

Rant over.

I don't really think this has to do with clothes..i rememberd chem'd up saying there were a lot of pillheads and shit. I haven't been there only to London so i cant say anything about it , but most of the people on this forum are not the kind of people who don't like somebody cause of clothes and that kind of stuff.

Well...ok, maybe not clothes. But even what you just said there - pillheads. I mean, so what if people take pills? Its not for me or you or anyone else to criticise them for it. Im sure the chems have taken their fair share of pills!

The chems vibe is as much about inclusion and tolerance as it is about rockin blocks with beats.

Love is all for fuck sake!

Dude...

As i said i haven't been there .. plus , if there is one person that likes and respects everybody it's me. Have you seen me criticise them ? I don't criticise people that take drugs , i criticise people that take drugs and become anoying to other people.

I've only seen the Chemical Bros twice

once at the oxegen festible last year at then again at Dublin last week.

I thought both set's were deadly and had a class time at both gigs

BUT

the sound was shite at the point in Dublin, and the security were proper tits too.

my girlfriend and I went out for a fag before the Chemy's came on, and getting back in was a mission. We tried walking back in the door we came out but we were told to to go to a different door, then the dick security at that door told us to get back to the first door. All in all, it took about 15 minutes to get back in!! A Joke!

The Boy's were about to start playing so people were geting exited, and started pushing. Somebody could have got hurt because of their incompetence.

anyhoo, the gig was still great, but i'm not going to another gig in the point again.

I think everyone here is aware of how inclusive and tolerant the Chems music can be when it comes to the live shows, but I also understand what people mean when they are criticizing the "vibe" at these shows.

Last Chems dj gig I went to, the vibe in my immediate proximity was excellent, I was amongst friends and had a wonderful night. Ask someone else in a different area of the crowd and they'd tell you another story - overall the reviews weren't that great. That was Los Angeles, and the crowds there are notoriously tough, I think that night the crowd wanted their Sandra Collins and Bad Boy Bill! If I were given the choice I'd see the Chems dj at Turnmills or Sankey's over anywhere in Los Angeles any day. I haven't been to Turnmills or Sankey's but from what I read here - the first hand experiences - I know the crowd at either of those places is gonna be going off and having a good time, and listening without prejudice. Regardless of how many people are under the influence.

If you go to a show ready for a good night, and you're surrounded by people who are moshing beligerant assholes, it's going to spoil the evening. It may or may not have anything to do with drinking and drugs - it could just be the vibe in your proximity and a general bad attitude people didn't check at the door.

The best we can do as people who respect other fans as well as the Brothers is to be into it as possible, and enjoy the shows for what they are. Turn off the mind, relax and float downstream and just go with it!!

we will see how long whirly's talk of checking ones attitude at the door lasts if she has to actually mosh her way to the front of the stage at Coachella... I'm pretty sure that she's willing to bodycheck and knee the nuts of as many candy kids as necessary to get within arms reach of Tom & Ed ;-)

Oh yeah, that would be sooooooo easy for someone who's not quite 5'1"! I may be strong but being short comes at a disadvantage for these sorts of things.

Oh wait, that's why I have you as my tall escort!

agreed. I'm so sick of this new liberal pc crap.....if a person of questionable background wants to get fucked up in a place where people are trying to have some fun, and fucks shit up for everyone else while locked in the own ignorant selfish whatever...ITS FUCKING ANNOYING....and too often at shows here this is the case

ok...I can't let this one go...

I'm gonna need a specific example of how a "person of questionable background" ruined your night.... :?

Seems to me like you were paying too much attention to the person next to you and not enough to what was unfolding onstage....

You too. Give me a specific example....

I thought the people in Dublin were the same as any crowd in any gig Ive ever seen. Actually, probably better. I had nothing but a happy vibe from everyone, and I didnt take any drugs at all.

Prejudice is ripe. Think about the phrase 'love is all' should be examined and understood before flippantly used...
