is a pretty good experience!

drove about 3 hrs last night to see him after work up to a place called derry in northern ireland. got up around 10 pm, headed to the hotel and had a few drinks in the room then headed to the venue whic was right behind the hotel at about 12.

the q at the door was not a good sign of what was to come...as me(23) and my friend(27) were by far the oldest there! id say the average ages was about 16-17....and fuck me were they drunk!

got in for about 12, erol came on about 12.30 and the place was pretty packed, its a covention centre kinda place but the actual room is pretty small, only fits around 200 so it was pretty good...but what was better is what he opened with...i couldnt believe it!....ALL RIGHTS REVERSED....with the "ahhh ahhh ahh ahh ahhh ahhh aahhh" at the beginging looped, then bursts into the beat and lyrics....im goin fuckin ape at this stage jumpin up an down and singing every word...which everyone around me seemed to think was a bit weird! but this tune works so well in a club, its so unexpected!

after that i dont really remember or recognise any tunes, he didnt drop any rage against the machine or edbanger or institubes stuff, think there was some sebastian in there, he did how ever drop "sweet dreams are made of this"...by...who ever its by! pretty good vibe.

what i did notice is that unlike alot of highly paid dj's he works every minute for every penny he's paid on stage, jumpin up n down vibing the crowd up,only noticed one (tiny) out of sync mix towards the end...which in a 2 hr set is amazing!

by the middle of the night tho the pills had gotten to the young 'uns and they were gettin extremely rowdy...its lucky i was there with a girl, cause about 5 ppl were saved last night cause of that!

left around 2 before he finished, went to get some alcohol sponges (chicken burger and chips!) then headed back, loads of fights, and not one copper were seen! rowdy as fuck town man! but full of LOTS of very cute, but mainly only 16 yr old girls! :(

anyways....post nap waffle over....summary....go and see Erol Alkan....he fuckin pounds it! you WILL dance every minute of his set....except when pilled gurning 14 yr olds bang into you.... :/

Don't be put off by what you saw in the streets, Derry's not normally that rough, been there a few times on nights out with mates and co-workers and have never felt threatened or intimidated after a night out.

In fact I've found it to be quite a friendly place after a night out more than once. Unfortunately I've once again missed the Celtronic festival and there's not much chance of making it for the last night tonight.

As cute as Derry girls can be, they have a similar rep as Essex girls! Still though, very cute!

Now i think about it, I've always been with a girl after a night out in Derry, maybe that's why I haven't seen any trouble there...?

Mr Alkan is my guess for support on the US leg of the Chemical Brothers tour. He's Still hasnt done a tour here yet. I think I've said that before...

i didnt feel threatened at all there, everyone is really friendly, and the girls are absolutely top class! ill absolutely be goin out on the piss there again....and scoring lots and lots and lots and lots. its the accent that gets me.....mmmmmmm

ahahaha! That's one thing I loved about living in Dublin, the women! My girlfriend is from Limerick, and yeah, the southies dig the nordie accent, though strictly speaking I'm Donegalian(?)! We're our own half-breed of north-south madness!

Was in Limerick for a while at the start of the year and they were mad for the accent there too. But in sayin that, I'm mad for the southie accent too but not so far as Cork("That's too much there boiee!").
