I know that works with certain image files on Mac, but it doesn't seem plausible with a sound file. Just my thought. If it works for you, great!
I have a Mac, and I convert all my files in iTunes. Easy.

i don't believe its because of the endings of the file, think of a tomato. If you change it to "ketchup" you won't get ketchup but if you convert it then you can eat your noodles, hehe.
I think you need a service pack for dbpoweramp converter. Pm me if you like...

thanks peeps. it doesn't work with jeanie's method, the file doesn't even show an extension (although the rest of the files in that folder do). i use mac too.
how do you do in iTunes? the thing is, that i need a file that can be uploaded unto acidplanet (wma etc.), meaning it has to be playable with the windows media player.
this is the first file i want to upload with that account, so i think thats one of the restrictions.
what now?
Csar, what is that package?

Open iTunes.
Click on "iTunes".
Click on "Preferences."
Click on "Importing."
Click on "Import Using" and select "MP3 encoder".
MP3s should play in Windows Media Player.
Go to your iTunes library and right click (control-click Mac user) on the song you want to convert, and click "Convert Selection to MP3." Ta-da.

No, it won't change it, but it'll allow the file to open in certain programs it normally wouldn't.

something doesn't work at acidplanet now:
"Error: We could not add metadata information to this file.
Metadata information refers to the title, artist, copyright, etc. information that is stored in a song file. We tried to take the information that you entered on the upload page and add it to your song file as metadata, but were unable to do so. This problem can occur if you have already added this information to your file prior to encoding it.
Please try removing any metadata information from your file and encoding it again. To do this in using ACID software, select Properties from the File menu, and remove all of the information on the Summary tab for Title, Artist, Copyright, etc."
after the uploading process was done, this came up. i didn't know what to do.
because i thought all the converting might have done something weird, i made a small movie with iMovie and uploaded it. unfortunately the same message came up. help X-D
